Merry Christmas, ladies! I'm busy, you're busy… and yet I had to come over to the computer and check out a few sales to see if there were some notable ones. Stores are largely closed today, so logic dictates that if the retailers want to make any money they'll mostly have to do it online… ;) I'll try to do a bigger roundup tomorrow, but today, here are the sale sections I'm surfing:
- 6pm.com – Select styles $20 or less, for savings up to 89% off. For women, lots of denim on sale. Ends 12/27.
- Ann Taylor – Semi-Annual Sale: Up to 70% off, no code needed.
- Athleta – Semi-Annual Sale, save up to 50% off (select items only).
- Banana Republic – Sale section marked up to 50%, and use code BRWINTER to take an extra 30% off sale styles – ends 12/25.
- Bare Necessities – Semi-Annual Sale, up to 65% off savings. Ends 1/2.
- Beauty.com – Year-end clearance, up to 70% off select items from your favorite beauty brands. Also, 25% off select holiday gift sets.
- Bloomingdale's – The Can't Stop Shopping After-Christmas Sale and Clearance — save up to 75% off on a great selection of items. Starts online today; in stores tomorrow.
- Boden – Sale is up to 60% off.
- Brooks Brothers – Semi-Annual Sale, save up to 50%. Save an additional 15% on 12/25 and 12/26 online.
- Club Monaco – Take an additional 30% off already-reduced merchandise with code WINTER.
- J.Crew – 30% off full-price styles with code GIFTNOW. Online only: extra 40% off sale items.
- The Limited – 50% off on original ticket prices on new arrivals — plus all holiday dresses and all jewelry and accessories are 50% off.
- Madewell – Extra 40% off all sale styles with code SALETIME.
- Nordstrom – Half-Yearly Sale for Men begins today! Also, earn double points through 12/27.
- Piperlime – Insider favorites on sale; extra 50% off with code EXTRA; ends 12/27.
- Saks – Designer sale, up to 70% off. Tons of really cute (and well-priced) flats and boots in their shoe section.
- Sephora – Extra 20% off sale items with code EXTRA20.

NY&Co is having a good sale. 60-80% off and free shipping on everything. I just ordered a top that I like in a few other colors.

I know we talked about what people wear for Thanksgiving dinner. What do / did you all wear for Christmas? I have done PJs in the past, but this year I had to get up and get the turkey in the oven (etc.) and would up unwrapping presents in . . . something not very camera-friendly.
If it matters: husband and small children open presents first thing in PJs.
Maybe fleece? Still cozy and easily washable, maybe more camera-friendly while still OK for wrestling heavy carcases and bakewear.

I still vote pajamas. Unless you are a Kardashian, the only camera friendly must for Christmas morning is a smile.

Check out LE — they are having sales now. Love the quality — I have some that are 7+ years old.

I highly, highly recommend the modal long sleeve that is FITTED. I own it in just about every color and wear constantly. Last year’s were still holding up really well despite heavy rotation (no fadding, pilling, etc.) so there were only a couple of new colors this year for me. And yes, I even have the crew, scoop and v styles. They literally are part of my weekend uniform.
Whatever you do though, stay away from the LE straight cotton ones (I think it’s listed as pima). I ordered a couple this year on deep discount and was so disappointed. I drove 45 min. to return them because they were so ill-fitting and uncomfortable that I couldn’t even justify them for PJ tops. They were ridiculously boxy (like as wide as tall) and the fabric was incredibly rough.
Modal. Fitted. Otherwise, don’t even bother.

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered some in a few colors and 2 different sizes; it sounds like they are worth checking out. And I could use some work tops that don’t need to be babied, particularly if they may last more than one season.

I own this top in 2 colors and just ordered a few more. It isn’t necessarily a “staple” because it isn’t an item they have regularly, but I think it is plain enough to wear a couple of times a week in different colors. If the link doesn’t work, it is the keyhole pleated sleeveless top from NY&CO. This is what I mentioned above when posting about the sale. It is currently about $14. Link below.
