pink linen suit with black mary jane flats

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women's suits of 2026!

I think this bubblegum pink suit from Mango is so cute — but how do we feel about the black shoes?

I ask because I would not have thought that black goes well with a pink like this — although I couldn't tel you why. I think this is one of the few cases where Mary Jane flats look great because the exposed skin leaves it from feeling too heavy. But then the question becomes: what other color shoes or belt is best to wear with light pink? A tan? A nude for you? Something slightly softer, like a gray or a dark brown? I can't recall ever really pondering this before.

The suit itself is on the affordable side — the blazer, pants and waistcoat range from $89-$150. (The waistcoat is a halter, which I don't recommend for most offices, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.) In good news, the suit is available in sizes 0-22 (EUR 32-54), and as well as in a pretty brown and ecru. Nordstrom also has the suit!

(The pictured shoes are $89 — they remind me a bit of the Una from M.Gemi.)

          1. shrug, Dove (mentioned above) and Ivory are both really gentle soaps. My skin is happy.

    1. i am a big fan of a cleansing oil. burt’s bees has one that’s cheap and lovely. i’m sure there are others. not sure if people below missed that you specified facial soap. i definitely wouldn’t use a bar soap on my face at 55, that’s a young girl’s perogative:)

      1. I can’t use the Dove or Ivory others mention here (way too drying and I despise the “soapy” smell of them). However, I am in my mid-40s and have used bar soaps from a vendor at my town’s farmers market most of my life without any adverse side effects.

        1. My mother (in her 80s) has a gorgeous complexion and insists on bar soap made with oils like olive oil. She discovered the soap vendor at our farmer’s market about 15 years ago. That has been a reliable holiday gift ever since.

    2. CeraVe Hydrating Face Wash with Hyaluronic Acid

Ceramides and hyaluronic acid help retain skin’s natural moisture. Those are the kind of ingredients dermatologists recommend.

    3. The same bar soap I use on my body. I rotate through cold-processed bars in different scents from a local maker. I have never had complexion issues beyond mild hormonal acne when I was a teen.

    4. Clinique All About Clean Liquid Facial Soap Mild for a quick cleanse.

If I’ve worn heavy sunscreen or any makeup at all, then it’s a cleansing balm. Clinique’s Take the Day Off is fine, but I also like asian brands like Hemish for this. I like the ritual of applying the balm directly to my skin before rinsing, then emulsifying with a little warm water, then taking it all off with a damp washcloth. (I like muslin cloths for this.)i

    5. I double cleanse and use the Kose speedymo oil cleanser and then the Cosrx low ph good morning gel cleanser. The snail cleanser is also very nice and more moisturizing.
