Looking for a mixed metals necklace to wear with everything this fall? I like this affordableish option from Mejuri. I like that it's 16″ long, and it's a mixture of gold finished steel and platinum finished steel.
The necklace is $248, available as pictured as well as an all platinum-finished version. There are several matching pieces, including two earrings and a minimal pendant necklae.

My teenaged daughter requested two nice, solid-colored hoodies for her upcoming milestone birthday. I know people have recommended sweatshirts/ hoodies here recently, but I can’t seem to find the threads. Please tell me what brands are making hoodies that fashionable young people like??
Comfrt is a favorite brand among the teens/tweens in my circle.
I’m decidedly not in that demographic, but I just ordered one this weekend! Are they for the kids? Will 50 year old me look out of place in it?
They’re icky and polyester, I would avoid
No, I think you’ll be fine! They’re nicely styled but I don’t think they read overly young. I kind of want one, too.
I would ask her what brand. Teen sweatshirt trends and preferences are hyper-specific. For instance, my teen says a kid at her school was taunted for wearing a Parke sweatshirt at orientation, but at the school where I work at least 50% of the girls are wearing them on any given day.
PSA: if what you* really want is a blazer from Boden, don’t spend $65 buying two inferior blazers on Ebay in what seemed like a similar color scheme. Either buy the expensive blazer or don’t! ;)
*it me
This applies to so many things. Especially the “responsible choice” toaster oven air fryer that is not the one I wanted yet has refused to meet an untimely end for three years.
Ugh I did so much research on the EXACT toaster oven I wanted. I told my partner which store location had it in stock. All he had to do was buy it. But nooooo he had to go to a different location of the retailer which didn’t have it in stock and buy another toaster oven I didn’t want. Then unwrap it and set it up to ‘surprize’ me when I got home. I want to throw it off an overpass I hate it so much.
Sage advice. But once, cry once.
Ugh, how many times have I done this?! Sometimes you just need to buy the thing you love.
What are the best brands for nicer cotton hoodies for teenaged girls? I know people have mentioned sweatshirts or hoodies recently, but I can’t find the posts.
My teen likes Alo and, of all things, Nike.
Nike hoodies are genuinely good!
I was thinking about the discussion of Medicare for All from the weekend, and I am having a hard time squaring the circle on something.
For liberals in favor, can you explain to me why you feel good about having the government *more* involved in your access to reproductive healthcare? It just seems obvious to me that a Republican majority would try to, and ultimately probably be able to, use an increase in control over doctors getting paid to limit women’s access to certain types of care. And I’m not just talking about the Hyde Amendment (although that obviously is a huge barrier to this working right now). I’m talking about birth control, optional hysterectomies, etc.
Medicare and Medicaid already cover a very large portion of the population and pay for those things without issue – I feel like if Republicans wanted to limit access to those things they would have already.
Also if you think private insurers are not working WAY harder to limit access to all medical services, not just women’s health related, I have bad news for you.
This
Medicare does not cover abortion except in rare circumstances because it is a federal program subject to the Hyde Amendment.
it’s in line with the move towards the socialist end of the spectrum, which i kind of feel like is where we’ll be in 5-10 years if there’s anything remaining of america when trump is done with it.
In most (all? I think Ireland finally got their ish together) abortion is simply a non issue. It’s accepted by all political stripes as a right
Hopefully this is ok to post. I’m thankful to have reconnected with some old friends recently. It’s really nice except I’m feeling a bit competitive with one of the friends around a sport we’re both taking up. My friend is with a gifted natural athlete and of course already pretty good. I’m whatever the opposite of a gifted natural athlete is and on the struggle bus. I’ve been practicing daily for an event we’re doing just to hold my own and feel ok. I’m improving but probably not enough to hold my own. I don’t love that I can’t just not care. Any tips on this? oh, its golf. I don’t know why I’m being weird.
No advice, but I appreciate you actually saying it’s golf and not being strangely secretive
Don’t play golf with this friend?
Or padel!
Ahh. I have to I committed to a foursome with two other friends. It’s an outing and fundraiser. It would be extremely lame to bail.
how do you help a family member who needs to see a therapist or go on an SSRI but doesn’t think they do?
Ah, a challenge as old as time. If they are a spouse, there are some ultimatums that sometimes come into play. But if they aren’t, it can be a struggle over years.
For my father, I messaged his primary care doctor and told him about the depression symptoms. So then at the next primary care appointment, the doctor simply asked him about his mood, and my Dad admitted his symptoms. The doctor quickly talked him into trying a medicine. Fortunately, the data showing that untreated depression/anxiety increases your risk of dementia later in life can also persuade, and certainly drove it home to my father. My father also had a good relationship with his PCP and trusted him. His PCP never revealed that I had messaged him.
Question for super comfortable blankets – I was tempted looking thru Cmfrt blankets a few days ago and I know Coma Inducer is really popular too. does anyone know of a similar super-plush and soft comforter that is a tie-dye or rainbow ombre/gradient? Looking for a very particular little boy, thank you!
