We like this muted print cardigan from New York & Company because it's the perfect transition piece for spring. For example, worn with brown slacks: professional and more interesting than a white cardigan. Worn with a shift dress in a muted color like beige or black: springlike and youthful. We're going to go out on a limb and say it might even look great with more brightly-colored skirts — a red pencil skirt, perhaps? — because beige lacks the aggressiveness of a black cardigan or blazer. I have yet to buy a fly away cardigan, but I’m seeing them everywhere. They always look cute on models in photos, but I’m wondering if they’re practical for the office. Does anyone own one, and care to share?
I have one and really like it, although it is more boring than the one pictured (just plain black). It fits over a lot of different tops and is extremely comfortable. Make sure to wear something more substantial underneath than just a thin camisole though, since there are no fastenings, it can “fly away” when you are hurrying around, and reveal more of your bottom layer that you would expect standing at home in front of the mirror – like bra straps. I work in a more conservative business-casual environment, and don’t need to show the whole office that I am wearing a little tank top!
