Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
We are loving this gorgeous draped dress from Michael Kors. We love the way it blouses over the tied waist, the way it drapes in a ladylike way in the back, and the way you could throw a navy blazer or cardigan over it for the day. Also love the discount: was $2105, now $737 at TheOutnet.com (still available in lucky sizes 8 and 10). Michael Kors Silk-blend draped dress

Maybe someone will make a knock-off one day …
Maybe the picture does not do it justice, but this dress looks like a fancy apron.
Hah, I can’t get excited over a discount that takes the price from incredibly unaffordable to merely extremely unaffordable. :-)
I’m with you on this one.
There is NO reason anyone should ever pay $2000+ for this dress. This is a $400 dress, max. And honestly, I wouldn’t bite until it was under $200.
Pretty sure I’ve seen similar dresses at Target for$29.99.
I think this would be a fine purchase in the $50 range at TJ Maxx, but $2000+? Wow. No way.
Agreed! I can’t believe anyone would pay $700+ for a dress like this, it’s cute – but nothing spectacular. Let alone pay $2000 for it! I’m pretty sure that’s a little bit more than what my wedding gown cost!
Ridiculous.
No likey. The red and black is jarring and makes it look “cheap.” Michael Kors, Shmorz. People are buying a name on this one. Obviously, I’m in the minority, because this thing sold like hotcakes at the “discounted” price of $737! (yowza!). I have a lovely silk red and cream polka dot dress with distinctive details that will put this one to shame. And cost, oh, $120 ($80 on sale) ;-D
Yep, I would pay $20 at Target for this as a fun, throwaway item. That price is insane.
Super Cute – but WAY over priced. I would expect Forever 21 to knock it off in no time for much cheaper.
It’s not my style, but if it was I would seriously consider getting this as an investment piece. I could easily see how someone could wear this to a lot of different things for years and always get compliments on it. Good pick!
I love it! But I’m not in the market for a $700 dress… Agree that it could be stylishly worn for years if you’re the kind of person who spends that much on clothes.
I also love it!! I think polka dots are so fun yet can be professional. But, as others have stated, this is definitely a splurge that I cannot afford.
I don’t think you could wear this more than once a month without being known as the red polka-dot girl. That said, I love the way the back drapes.
Nobody else is thinking clown fabric here?
I’m with you – I see this and think “Minnie Mouse goes to the office.” I don’t like either the color or the size of the dots.
Yepperz! LOL. Co-sign @anon-chi 100%
Anyone else feeling the polka-dots, but not feeling the price? I bought this dress recently. Any suggestions what I should wear it with? I was going to wear it today, but I could not decide what to wear on top (I am a die-hard jacket/blazer/cardigan woman). Thanks.

I actually like your version much better, less bright, long sleeves and the shape looks comfortable without being a sack.
CUTE! I think you could go with any of your blazers/cardigans … black, red, navy, yellow (if it’s in your color range), purple come to mind. Tailored, with very simple jewelry and pumps..perhaps in a grey or the color of the blazer/cardigan. I’n not in BigLaw nor a conservative office…what a find!
I have moderate sewing ability and would make this if I had the right pattern. it would be easy. The fabric needed would be about two yards at $40.00 per yard. The sewing time would be about four hours including hand-hemming the skirt (because I am slow at this.) I would enjoy wearing the dress two or three times tops, and then it would go onto the rack.
check out this collection http://www.maxmara.com/it/Collezioni/Studio. I think Max Mara is one of the best fashion houses when it comes to elegant, quality corporate attire, even though it is not too popular in the States (I reside in Europe). I think the dresses in pictures 11 and 13 are the most perfect for work! Great material, perfect cut and long lasting!
love that dress. and the direction you’re taking with these super feminine dresses. OUTNET had great office-ready looks all discounted today!

I love the Michael Kors clothes that are sold at Macy’s that are in the 100-250 dollar price range. I work in a very casual office and everything he makes seems to be casual but sophisticated. I don’t even shop in the stores where his clothes sell for over a thousand dollars. What is the difference, and why are there separate lines?
I was going to say I really liked the dress – and in general I like drooling over the “splurge” items – but I have to admit I don’t think this would work for me. For one thing, the back has that lower back with draping thing going on which could make it tough to wear at work (although I guess with something over it it would work?)
