For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Dillards is having some great online sales, and if you try to ignore the fact that, without fail, the model is wearing ugly sandals with pants that are too short. We like this charcoal Antonio Melani suit — we think it would go great with a dark purple or royal blue top. The jacket (Antonio Melani “Zelia” Jacket) is marked down to $83.58 (sizes 4, 10, 12, 14 only), and the pants (Antonio Melani “Antonio” Pants) are now $54.18 (sizes 6 and 12 only).Sales of note for 4/10:

I clicked on the jacket to buy and in the time it took me to select the pants and hit “shopping cart” the jacket was SOLD OUT!!!!!!!
grrrrrr.
ewwww, not a fan of the jacket.
It looks like someone accidentally made the hips too narrow and decided to split the seam and add a triangle of fabric to avoid having to re-do the entire jacket…
Tim Gunn would be concerned.
“Tim Gunn would be concerned.” —> LOL. Love it!
I looked at this suit a few days ago, but am not really a fan of the jacket. I really like the Antonio fit pants since I have a long torso and most other pants tend to have a really low rise on me. With this pant, I don’t have the muffin top or issues with skin showing when I sit down.
So you can only get the full outfit in a 12?
who really wears the same size on top and bottom with a suit? really?
Unless I am the only one, I’m guessing that many women wear the same size on top and bottom of a suit. And many women wear different sizes. Crazy this world we live in!
Apparently a lot of women do, or else our only suit options would be separates. I know I have to get separates, but if you don’t, it’s nice to have a guarantee that you’ll be able to get both pieces in the same size.
*raises hand*
Me too
it’s especially frustrating when you can only wear petite jackets (narrow shoulders and high waist), but absolutely cannot wear petite pants (too tall). i can only buy separates from places like banana (because they sell the same stuff across their petite/regular/tall lines) or buy a regular suit and have the jacket completely redone.
I like the suit, but seriously? Who is styling the photo shoot?
LOL!
On a related note, I saw a couple of a really great pieces in the Antonio Melani line the last time I went shopping. When I make the transition from law student to real lawyer, I will definitely pick up some gems from his line!
Actually, it kind of looks like the pants aren’t quite the same in both photos, doesn’t it? They’re slightly different shades of gray and one has more of a sheen to it.
Re: Antonio fit pants … they look really wide-legged here (which I love), but does that look too modern when paired with a suit? Most of my suit pants (few and far between, I tend to stick to skirts, which I’m trying to remedy as quickly as possible) are a little straighter in the leg. Anyone have any insight on that? Thanks :)
I think that becomes a function of what looks best on you.
Personally, as someone who is 5’4″ and long-waisted, I’m annoyed by cuffs on pants — they shorten me.
I think I have about 4 pairs of Antonio fit pants, so you can tell I love them. Since I am more of a pear shape, they tend to balance out my wider hips. This one does look a lot wider than the pairs I have, but it may just be a combination of the lighting and the styling. When they are this short, I think it does make them look wider than when you wear them at a more normal length.
Love this, and love the price, but my size is gone :-(
I like the fabric of the suit. Very striking without being too much or too sparkley. I don’t like the cuff in the pants, too thick. I’m petite…very petite 5″ and not a cm more. Cuffs do nothing for petite women…or really any size women. I think they look a bit clownish. I wish banana and jcrew would stop cuffing all their pants. I usually buy the pants in a regular size and then when altering have them turned up without the cuff. It would be nice to just buy the petite though and save $$ on alterations.
I read an article (on http://www.youlookfab.com) a while back explaining why models where high-water pants in photo shoots. It explained that sample-sized prototype designs are made far in advance and aren’t tailored to tall, skinny model proportions, but rather everywoman proportions. It would be a major hassle to create a few customized fits for the models just for the shoot, so they wear the floodin’ pants with heels and make the best of it… Here’s the link: http://youlookfab.com/2007/02/19/why-fashion-models-break-the-perfect-pant-lengths-rule/
