I can’t get enough of the animal prints, but the stripe trim on this gorgeous dress from Reiss is what really sold me. Plus, it has pockets! What’s not to love?
The fabric is 100% viscose, so it will flow and drape beautifully. If you’re worried about clinginess, I’ve had great luck with the Jockey Skimmies line for slips.
The dress is on sale for $326 (marked down from $468) at Reiss and comes in sizes 0-12.

I’m looking for work from home outfits. Comfortable two piece sets that I can easily wear at home but also can go out in public in. I don’t want athleisure because I don’t like the material of most leggings or how tight they are. Gap has been great for this – both the joggers and the sweater pants. Any other suggestions for where to look for this? More loungewear set than athleisure.
Are joggers not athleisure? Or are you thinking something more like resort wear, with floaty linen separates?
Resort wear would be good.
I want pants that are fitted, but not skintight or made with Lycra. I also don’t want wide leg pants, which a lot of the options seem to be. The joggers are not my favorite because I don’t feel good when I wear I wear them in public, but they’re a serviceable option and okay for quick errands.
I want to feel put together, but I also just mentally cannot wear hard pants inside the house. I really really like the knit matched set I have, and get a long of compliments when I do wear it out of the house.
Joggers are definitely athleisure! But if you’re okay with joggers, then I think the athleisure brands that have been recommended below would all have fine options (Athleta, Varley, Spanx, Vuori).
You could also check, J Crew (I have a couple pull on pants from there, but they are more wide leg style), Marine Layer, or Eileen Fisher.
In my mind, joggers are even lower than athleisure!
Eileen Fisher. Expensive but in the long term, ends up being inexpensive cost per wear.
Maybe share a price point? These kinds of sets are everywhere these days as it seems like everyone has decided that they want to wear a matching sweat suit every time they are at the airport – spanx, vuori, alo, lulu, etc etc etc. Maybe if you wanted to be slightly elevated, you could try Zsupply? They have cute sets that are not so athletic to me, and more casual outfit vibes.
by “not athleisure” do you mean just not leggings? Because joggers are in the athleisure category IMHO. Varley, Vuori, Spanx, all sell cute “sets” with jogger and uncuffed pant options.
I’m not sure I see the distinction you’re making between loungewear and athleisure, but besides the list people have given here (Varley, Vuori, Spanx) you could try Athleta, which often has pants-adjacent items in stretchy materials.
I don’t want stretchy material, basically. I want soft material, not lycra.
In summer I like the gap gauze sets. I find those read ok on camera, especially in the neutral colors. The varley cuffed pant may be more your style than the wide leg, but the wide leg is not too big. The spanx airessentials line is a nice option too. If you don’t need a set, I also like the abercrombie and Jcrew linen pants in summer, and I’ll often wear with a short sleeve sweater.
Frank & Eileen?
I’ll just say it, you’re never going to look polished heading out of the house in soft pants. Wear them to work at home but put on real clothes when you leave. Surely you have 30 seconds to change your pants.
I see people who look put together and on trend in soft pants. I don’t know about polished, but salon hair, nice shoes, nice glasses, and a loungewear set actually looks a little more ready to go out in public to me than the same outfit but with the soft pants swapped out for random slacks or jeans.
The only people I see like this are influencers, not real people.
I used to think this way about fancy manicures, but it turned out it just wasn’t a thing where I lived. So maybe it’s just regional.
Lol hate to say it, but I agree.
If by influencer you mean AI generated or a human who spends all their time on their appearance, I concur.
Proper pants please.
Agree
Sounds like Varley. Very popular in my fancy neighborhood right now.

Mela Purdie is an Australian brand perfect for this. Made to look smart but ultra comfortable.
The pact airplane collection?
Roots may have what you are looking for. In particular I’m loving the “Bowen” matching sets right now. They are sweater material – a bit more structured/put together than sweatpants material, and look polished enough to wear out of the house. Go down a size if you are between: https://www.roots.com/us/en/search?q=bowen&lang=null
Thank you everyone this gives me a lot of good ideas! The Spanx and Varley ones seem like the best fit – do those ever go on sale?
You might be able to score an off-season color, but for the most part, the price is what it is.
Spanx occasionally has a rare sale on end of season items; best bet is to use the first time shopper 10% discount OR find an online influencer and use their 10% off code (I’ve had success finding the influencer discount codes through LTK; however, you could probably find them easy by searching for Spanx across other SM platforms)
This summer I am wearing a lot of linen from Banana Republic factory- tops and bottoms to WFH. They are comfortable for home, but I look fine when I leave the house.
You may also want to check the travel collections for the mall brands (e.g., Talbots, J. JIll, and Chico’s).
Haven Well Within, which is also sold at Talbots, is good for this too. I wear the Athleta linen pants while I’m at home too, but you have to like the way linen sits.
I like cotton gauze pieces for summer. They are easier to maintain than linen.
If you’ve had 2-3 weeks where you couldn’t/wouldn’t/didn’t work out, where do you start back? A favorite class like a treat or back to business with less weight, time, incline, whatever?
Some of it depends on the reason I couldn’t work out. Simply too busy, start back where I was. Sick or injured? Start back with a lighter load or shorter time period.
Start with something I love and keep the effort a bit lighter than pre-break.
Depends on your fitness level and why you couldnt work out (injury or illness)
Listen to your body, what’s it telling you it wants?
I usually start with a 2ish mile walk around a track or on a treadmill at a moderate pace while monitoring my heart rate. If I’m not edging up into zone 3 from a walk then I know I’m ok to bump it up a bit. I’ll usually swap to an erg for 2k meters with a cool down and then add in a 20ish minute weight workout, again monitoring my heart rate. If I can handle all of that without spiking into zone 3 in my first 5 minutes of erging or weights then I know I’m recovered enough for my normal stuff. I also like to make sure I’m doing gentle yoga/stretching for my cooldowns and giving myself rest days.
Assuming the time off wasn’t due to an injury, I get back to my routine. For cardio, I go at my normal perceived intensity, recognizing that it the actual intensity may be lower. For weights, I drop down for several workouts and build back up over about two weeks. I’m 45 if that’s relevant.
For the poster asking about North Carolina School of Science and Math last week, one of the Artemis II astronauts was a grad!
Well, if anyone had been wondering how it went with the 39 year old dating app guy who had his age range set to women ages 28-33: We had our second date last night and he informed me that he actually prefers being in an open relationship, but he knows 90% of the women he’s interested want monogamy. Don’t worry, though! He’ll settle for a monogamous relationship IF the woman is “spicy enough”.
I wrapped things up quickly after that and left but yikes! Everyone who said it was a red flag, you were right.
Yikes what a nightmare. May he never ruin a woman’s life and get exactly what he deserves
ooof, sorry that he wasted your time!
(Munches popcorn)
I’m glad you dodged that bullet.
PS – I called it! My belief is that he wanted younger women wouldn’t push him for commitment. Women in their mid/late 30s who want kids do not mess around.
Oof. Thank you for the update, and I’m glad you found this out!
I’m sorry that happened to you, but it’ll make a good story later
But you went on a second date?
Found the disciplinarian who blames the victim!
Nope, just a reminder to listen to your instincts, you don’t owe anyone another chance.
I’m sure you can imagine how this outlook could sometimes backfire in life, especially across cultural differences.
It’s never steered me wrong. I owe no one a cross cultural understanding in my romantic life either.
It’s okay to consider whether we’re misunderstanding other people, and it’s possible to miss out in life because we’re too narrow minded. It’s okay to be happy with the outcome of acting on instincts to reject people, but “I’ve never mistakenly rejected someone” is probably not really falsifiable. It’s okay to go on a second date not because it’s “owed,” but because we liked someone and was hoping our instincts were wrong, which is a thing that sometimes happens to some people. OP really did nothing wrong at all.
Oh eff off.
Thank you anons!
Aside from the age range thing, he was a total gentleman on the first date and we had good chemistry . As many of the commenters in the original thread suggested, I was (maybe naively) hoping the age range thing was solely about wanting multiple kids and a more relaxed timeline. I’m happy I gave it another shot even if he ended up being a dud
I think it often takes a few dates for the duds to reveal themselves.
100% this. Sasha, I would have done the same thing when I was dating.
At least he did reveal himself on the second date, and not much later.
You can go on a second date to see how you feel — that’s kind of the point of second dates. OP, I’m glad you went to investigate more, and that you got the clarity you needed.
@10:14, If your point really was to remind the OP or others to trust instincts, then the “I told you so” attitude didn’t get that across. But I suspect your point was to feel superior, in which case, the “I told you so” attitude really nailed it.
Dating is hard. This wouldn’t have been a big enough red flag for me to cancel a date if I otherwise liked the guy and enjoyed the first date.
Constructive response: “That second date proved that your instincts were right. Trust that.”
Your response: judgemental overtones.
Which one do you think is more likely to help the OP have the confidence in herself to trust her own instincts?
He said this on the second date. The only red flag on the first date was the age range. Weird to blame OP for this.
Relieved to hear you’ve made it out and away from that weirdo! On to better things!
It always amuses me that men have so little self awareness. “He knows 90% of the women he’s interested in want monogamy.”
And yet he doesn’t seem to question his own attitude.
Ahhh, welp, thanks for the update! At least you found out quickly!
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. The positive is that you learned early on that he is definitely not for you. Onward and upward!!!
OMG men are not lonely enough.
At least he informed you of his preference on the 2nd date. Am I the only one who is surprised he was honest?
Nope. Something similar happened to me and I was glad to know the truth so I did not waste my time. I went out with someone who told me on the first or second date that he had a girlfriend and seem incredulous when I said we would not be going out again. I actually had to explain that I was not going to reward his honesty by dating him. A few weeks later, I saw him with someone that I presumed was his girlfriend and I wondered if she had any idea what a terrible partner he was. I feel so bad for the partners who have no clue.
Wow. What a douchebag.
And this is why I don’t do online dating. They need to properly background check everyone.
Had a date with a guy I’ve been seeing for a few months. Still haven’t slept with him and he will be dumped. He said his habits drove his ex wife crazy. He then proceeded to pee with the bathroom door open and hock up a phlegm ball in the most gruesome manner. No thank you. The ex wife is living her best life and I’m thrilled for her.
Unfortunately it does take time. Thankfully this one burned out date 2.
Help me find something I saw overseas recently (formerly common in the US): black dress in what looked like 3-season wool. Slight scoop neck, 3/4 sleeves. Fitted but not snug above the waist. At waist, all-around reverse pleats. Loose but not skater-type skirt to the knee. Pockets.
I feel like this type of dress was easy to find pre-mid 2015s and never after COVID but I would wear the heck out of it now. I feel like I can’t find a polished work dress with sleeves for any $ now. Everything is a cheap sleeveless shift or rufflepuff or too PTA fundraiser gear.
Does this dress exist where I could order it in 2026? My prior similar dresses were all in smaller sizes or fell to moths, linings (remember them) wearing out, etc but I wore them all the time and always felt presentable.
Look on resale s-tes. This was a current & popular style in the early 2010s which is why it was easy to find then. The prevailing styles have changed.
Look for the brand GOAT.
I’m wondering where work-formal people show now that we are mainly in an era of jacket + pants. and what do you do for a blouse when even an elevated tee is too informal?
Mall stores still carry this stuff (suits, blouses, shells) – just online more so than in store.
From J McLaughlin:
https://www.jmclaughlin.com/products/catalyst-dress-solid-black
That’s like a MMLF Etsuko (which I have, slightly snug currently). What I saw had a fuller skirt. As a pear, I need this shape very much now that my weight gain has all been in the southern hemisphere while my top half is still small.
Try tuckernuck
Don’t go hunting for things that are very out of style. Figure out the category replacement for yourself and update with that.
This isn’t “very out of style” except in the way that formal dressing is “very out of style.” This type of dress is still a need for many people and I vote it in the “classic styling” category.
Except when no one sells it, it is very out of style. No one has worn these since the mid-teens as OP notes, that is the definition of out of style.
For women’s wear, all I see are simple-seamed easy/cheap to sew clothes in cheap fabrics. I wouldn’t say it’s in style, especially for serious work wear, but it’s definitely on offer.
Brands like Akris might be quality fabric + quality tailoring (and maybe Boss?) for women, but it seems like there is nothing in mall shops the way there used to be. Since people largely wear pajamas, maybe this makes sense? But some jobs need you to not do this.
Only if you assume that a specific style is formal! Like… 1980s and 1990s business formal had a very different shape than 2010s business formal. Same thing has happened in the last 15 years!
The OP is looking for a very specific and dated style, see her first paragraph.
10:40, I agree with you – I was responding to 10:22, who was implying that this type of dress is the only way to dress formally for work.
It’s *a way* to dress formally for work. Sometimes I see things in the wild that look great on a person and try to recreate it, even if the mall isn’t currently selling it. With the internet, we can actually wear anything we set our minds to, as long as we’re willing to hunt.
Just because it isn’t on sale in the mall isn’t a useful barometer for what is going to look good on a person individually.
You aren’t as cool as you think
At least I’m not wearing decades old clothes though.
Many people do and look great. Have a less narrow vision.
Basic cardigans were “in” for decades, then went out of style completely around the pandemic. They are now coming back, because, guess what, basics are not something that can be just done away with.
Knee length dresses in a suiting fabric will be back.
Trendy are tacky 😉
Hard disagree. There’s a vast difference between wearing an interesting vintage piece that wasn’t mass market popular and a look that defined an era. When you wear an obviously dated outfit, you create a credibility gap for yourself. It might not register with everyone consciously but a date look can undercut current thinking. The last thing you should want is for people to dismiss you for reasons within your control. Also, this is a fashion blog and I think there’s a responsibility to not just applaud someone’s efforts without a note that it might not serve them well.
The credibility gap does not apply to a sheath dress. I promise.
I am with 11:31. As one of the (ahem) “older” readers, even looks that come back after 20 or 30 years are subtly, or not so subtly, different from the original looks providing inspiration. One can wear a midi plaid skirt today and look modern, but definitely not the frumply midi plaid skirts of the mid-1980s.
The OP is not looking for a sheath dress.
+1. Why are people being so self-important today?
Uniqlo and Muji both have similar things
Maybe Veronica beard elthea dress?
Not the OP, but this is lovely!
Too many criteria. You might find a black dress but not in wool, or not with the exact stylistic features you mention. Or alternatively, maybe you can order it from overseas if you saw it there?
from Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/728277792/a-line-eco-wool-dress-long-dress-natural?gpla=1&gao=1&variation0=1217981803&variation1=4637781511
Listen to your body, what’s it telling you it wants?
There’s a Tasmanian brand called Smitten which makes the kind of dress you are describing. Worth the dosh.
Resale sites. Banana Republic and Ann Taylor on eBay should have a few dozen in your size to peruse.
I have some shirt dresses that are in style and have volume in the skirt. I would look for that cut instead of trying to find something that isn’t currently being sold.
Ming Wang has a black and white knit midi dress that has the right silhouette. And knits are more comfortable than a woven.
Have a look at Norwegian brand Ko:Ko.
https://www.kokonorway.com/categories/knee-length-dress
If you want sometinng more formal, look for vintage Hobbs.
Louisa short jersey dress at Biden for the look of not the fabric
Low stakes question: I’m on a weight loss journey and have dropped a couple of sizes, still hoping to drop a couple more. I have a lot of clothes in my closet from sizes 12-18 to choose from, so I’m trying not to buy new stuff. However, I’m noticing that some things just seem dated or the wrong cut for right now (like my beloved sheath dresses from 2018). So my question is, for what items do you think it is most important to have a “current” style or cut, and what can I get away with a 6-10 year old version? I’m thinking jeans are at the top of the list. Anything else?
Pants need the most updating, shirts the least and dresses are in between. Blazers too. Doing similar to you and I’d recommend buying new pants that fit you now as the main starting point.
And take note of the comments we get here “I wish I had kept my gorgeous lined suiting pants from 10 years ago because nothing exists like that now and I want them back.” So if something looks good on you and reads as a potential classic, even if it’s temporarily “out”, take note of that, too.
That’s fair, I’m also taking my best pants to the tailor to take in and am not waiting until I’m done losing weight. There’s only so much they can go in and it’s nice to have some good clothes in the meantime.
Pants change the most. I pulled out a pair from that era that felt “wide” at the time (compared to all my ankle pants) and they look 100% skinny compared to current styles.
Sheaths are easier to style in a modern way than pants are IMHO (like, swap heels for loafers). And oversized blouses tucked into pants is current, so that could be a good way to style your current tops.
I have two washable silk split neck cap sleeve blouses from the late Amour Vert. They are longer, from when we wore skinnies, and maybe boxy / slightly larger than I really need. How would you style for 2026? Just tuck in? Or tailor and shorten because if a lot of fabric. Both quality items I’m trying to figure out.
Boxy with a lot of fabric is in! Either tuck in or hem to a non-tucking length.
I have hemmed these kinds of blouses if it is too much fabric to comfortably tuck. I hemmed them to a more reasonable length for tucking.
I have this blouse and just tuck it, but I also have a long torso and it’s not excessively long on me in the first place.
I listened to Josh Shapiro’s memoir over the weekend and he really seems like a viable, moderate candidate for the Dems in 2028. I’m curious though from Pennsylvania residents, how is he perceived at home? I lived in PA a long time ago and my family are not fans of him (they’re pretty strong R/MAGA) so looking for a gut check on his viability. I certainly feel better about him as the nominee than Newsom or Pritzker.
With the muck up of Israel/ Gaza and a topper of Iran, I think a Jewish candidate will not be viable because too many voters are upset with Israel and will link it, regardless of the candidate’s actual positions.
Is there a Shapiro “muck up” or are you saying Israel “mucked up”?
Just that at this point its such a messy situation that it could be better to have a candidate where the issue will come up less. It’s the issue that’s so bad you can’t even look at it.
I think Dems want the issue to come up and a candidate who confronts it and says “the U.S. will never be in this position again.”
And not only is he Jewish but he’s fairly pro-Israel. There are Jewish politicians who’ve been really critical of Israel but he’s not one of them. I think it’s a non-starter for that reason (and I’m Jewish and more supportive of Israel than many on the left).
I’d say generally well-regarded among Dems and moderates. The Rs I know are basically going to only ever vote that ticket regardless of the candidate themselves, so it feels like boosting turnout among non-Rs is critical.
I think he’s generally well-regarded. His social media (at least that I come across) plays mostly to more urban/suburban folks in Philly and Pittsburgh, and sometimes feels a bit contrived to me, but I imagine that’s all politicians’ social media. PA’s economy has remained relatively strong and, at least per a recent Moody’s analysis, is at quite low risk for recession, which can’t be said of a lot of older states. He’s very openly pro-choice, which is great from my perspective, but obviously not everyone’s. That he’s had a bit of a feud with Fetterman is also a pro given Fetterman’s recent actions (in my eyes).
He’s more pro-Israel than the democratic base is, which in the last month has really become a potential electoral liability, and not really the firebrand some think that the democrats need, but he’d certainly be a young-ish competent leader, if not revolutionary. I certainly wouldn’t be upset if he ran.
I’m in PA and really, really like him. I agree with the previous poster that the muck up with Gaza and Iran will make him a difficult candidate, which is disappointing to me for several reasons.
I’m in Philly and he’s well liked among Dems, but I don’t think he’ll be a viable presidential candidate in this environment (Israel).
Selfishly, I don’t want to lose him as our governor so I hope he doesn’t run for anything else until he can compete a term or two.
As a liberal not leftist Philadelphian I think he’s awesome.
I could see Rs and people further left than me not loving him as much. Ditto people from Pennsyltucky.
My mother lives in PA and has been trying to convince me that he is the future of the party, specifically sending me, totally unsolicited and not connected to any specific discussion between us, a NYT opinion piece about him being the Dems’ future and not Mamdani (who obviously is never a presidential candidate, but this writer apparently really wanted to stake out this position so whatever). She is a Hillary Clinton/”blue no matter who” Democrat.
my college bff’s sister works for him and says he is truly the nice guy he seems to be. but as a Jewish person, for many many reasons I do not think this country is even close to ready to have a Jew as president. The country needs a non-Jewish version of him.
The country needs an atheist but that will never happen.
There’s an atheist in office right now.
Thanks – I laughed out loud.
I don’t think we need an atheist. Obama and Biden were devout, Kamala is religious. All of them were fine/would have been fine. Just not a religious fanatic or someone like Trump who is pretending to be.
Disagree. I genuinely feel that religion/gender/race are not factors that affect electability. Being able to articulate a point of view that resonates and that is sincere is what the Democratic Party keeps failing at. The party is pretty weak at having a strong point of view or even coalescing around shared priorities. They just parrot whatever “seems” relevant, like affordability, instead of agreeing what a standard of living ought to look like and what they are going to push for specifically to achieve it while in office.
I think you are focusing on the wrong thing. The electorate cares less about a candidate’s religion than their platform and what they choose to run on. It’s my impression that past democratic candidates ran on what the polls told them to run on and not what they genuinely wanted to change once in office.
Has anyone been to Round Hill Resort in Jamaica lately? Considering taking my two teens there this summer and curious on safety and whether the pricing is worth it.
An acquaintance from a well-heeled family goes on a 3-generation trip there annually – they seem to alternate between Round Hill and Tryall. The grandchildren are elementary age so not sure if one of the two is better for teens.
Tryall is excellent.
Thinking of getting a pair of Clarks sneakers for an upcoming Italy trip: https://www.clarks.com/en-us/nalle-zen/26186022-p
Cute or is the zip too orthopedic?
Cute!
Cute. Should be fine for walking. IMO standing on hard floors for hours in museums is what kills my feet. Tons of Adidas in Italy (Europe, maybe the rest of the planet).
I recommend Cole Haan sneakers for traveling (unless you have a wider than average foot). They’re supportive, comfortable and they wear like iron.
Their medium width runs a little narrow, in my experience.
If you want something similar without the zipper, look at Joseph Siebel.
Similar style and wildly comfortable–Naturalizer Morrison sneaks. I’ve worn mine all over on trips and they are the GOAT.
The Vionic Winny sneaker looks similar but without the zipper. Vionics have great arch support. I wear mine for hours of city walking. Good luck!
Vionic’s Winny sneakers look similar and without the zip. I really like them for hours of city walking; they have great arch support. Good luck!
eh, they look kind of blobby to me. Try Golas if you need a really round toe box.
Spent the weekend taking photos of my wardrobe and making a spreadsheet to figure out what I have/need to get. I have a lot of Gap stuff, apparently I like their basics (the baby boot jeans, plain v-neck cashsoft sweaters, long-sleeve cotton t-shirts), but the quality is just ….ugh. Any suggestions for where to upgrade that kind of thing?
vince.
This
Just plugging Indyx for wardrobe cataloguing, it’s magical
I’d go Jcrew or Uniqlo for the long sleeved tshirts. Jeans – Frame if you’re ok with $$$, Madewell is great for the price point and I find they stretch out less than Gap. Sweaters – this is a great time to grab high quality sweaters on sale. Brooks brothers, Tuckernuck, Ralph Lauren, etc. I tend to go for the highest quality sweaters I can afford, they just wear so much better.
I have been very happy with my t-shirts from JC Penney. I looked there on a whim, and wow. The material is really substantial. And INEXPENSIVE.
I’ve been very happy with my AYR jeans and shirts!
My very favorite pair of jeans is from FRAME — got them at Anthropologie. Amazing quality and super flattering.
Ideas for admin prof’l day? My budget is $100-150. My firm does a lunch. Admin is early 60s, supported me for 7 years, I’d love to keep her as long as she’s willing to work. She prefers physical gifts. No mugs or food/beverage items. I have done gift cards (theatre, local shows, events, lots of different food items). Likes the outdoors and antiques. Past hits have been a fancy birdfeeder with camera, glass art piece, gift card to an antique mall.
Maybe see if you can find a coffee table book of antiques from your area? There’s many out there that exist which explain the evolutions of styles, construction methods and materials over the years with lots of pretty pictures.
There’s a book I know that exists for my local area as well as where my brother lives so I assume it’s a fairly common thing.
I’d re-do the gift card to the antique mall.
My husbands cousin is getting married this summer and I’m a bit stumped on what to wear.
At 11 in the morning, they are having an Indian ceremony and lunch. Then at 5 that night it will be a Jewish wedding with dinner and cocktails. Husband is on the Jewish side so I have a better idea of attire for that but what do I wear to the morning service? Husband isn’t particularly close to his cousin and the invitation and wedding website don’t specify. I was thinking something vibrant with a sleeve and a longer hemline but not standard cocktail attire like for the evening ceremony? Help.
I guess the safest bet is having my in law reach out to the couple.
Vibrant with a sleeve and longer hemline sounds good (Source: am Indian-American). I’m surprised they didn’t say any dress code. I would lean more formal than for work. Like if I wasn’t wearing Indian I would wear a floor length brightly colored or jewel toned dress.
For added context, both are being held at a run of the mill event venue not religious buildings.
I’m in need of new black pants for work. I’m interested in something with some stretch for comfort, but I still need to look polished. I’m very curvy and am generally a size 10 or 12 in Ann Taylor curvy cut pants but don’t love my current ones. Any suggestions for other brands that have some stretch in the AT price range?
I like the quince ponte flare leg pants. They are good for curves.
I hated the fabric on these — very synthetic-y. The cut was also very tight, like old school yoga pants. But if you don’t mind those features, the quality seemed fine.
This is true, they are synthetic-y, but I have to compromise on fit and look vs fabric quality (due to said curves.) I do like the way they look and fit.
JCrew seasonless stretch are great.
I LOVE the Madewell barrel-leg pant in drapey twill (make sure you search for those exact terms!) I am your exact size and I find these pants extremely flattering, modern without looking overly trendy, and best of all, they have several buttons at the waist so you can adjust for a looser or tighter fit. Highly recommend!
How the Catholics doing today?
Not to downplay it, but “compromise the Gospel for a share in my power” is practically the oldest offer in the book, and one that has been made (sadly, sometimes successfully) many times to the Church over the last 2000 years. And when it is rejected, threats are the natural response.
So it’s not a good thing to see happening again, but it’s hardly a shock.
Great, but I’m not sure I understand the question.
It’s the usual, the POTUS threw a truthsocial temper tantrum, this time directed at the roman pontiff
For better or worse, the Catholic church is likely to be around longer than the USA will be. It just made him sound silly to me.
I mean, I detested Trump before and I still do. So that’s how I’m doing.
I’ve been thinking about how when JFK was running for president, people said Catholics would have to choose between being loyal to the US and loyal to Rome. I never quite got that, but I do. If it comes down to a choice between these two leaders, I choose Leo.
But who will the Vice President choose?
Himself, based on his history.
I know that the current style is to tuck in tops. This weekend, I wore a cute pair of wide-leg pants with a slim-fit tee. Tucked in the front part. Felt cute. Saw photos later, and I was horrified by how I looked, which was like a Lego person with a pouch. IDK, apparently I can’t get past the mentality of dressing in a figure-flattering way.
I recently read that the French tuck and tucking in clothes in general is considered a “millennial” thing which translates to “so over”. I’ll keep doing it because it’s personally flattering to me. But it sounds like you’re moving with the times!
1. You should wear clothing in a way that makes you feel good about yourself. You do you.
2. It’s possible you are so used to seeing yourself in a certain way, that it’s jarring to adjust your eyes to a new look. Just like women who were adults in the 70s can’t stop wearing blue frosted eye shadow because they think “this is what flatters me!”
I don’t understand this message that we should dress in an unflattering way. Nobody would suggest that we act stupid or pretend to be less interesting because that’s the trend right now. Why diminish yourself by wearing clothes that make you look like a blob?
I think it’s a sign that generations value different things. “Flattering” to a 90’s girl is different than “flattering” to today’s teens.
Right. Dressing to flatter your figure is a more timeless aesthetic than whatever Gen Z is doing right now.
I used to run really cold (thermostat 78 in the winter), but the past year or two, I’ve noticed I run hot (I now keep it 65-68 in the winter).
I just had to take off my undershirt. I have a lightweight silk cotton blend button down that is not the most opaque but I just couldn’t take it anymore. Is this how perimenopause starts?
Yes, in my experience.
Could be.
Thermostat 78 in winter (!!) down to 65 in winter is a crazy shift.
Every time I read a post mentioning undershirts, hot flash me wants to know in what universe the poster lives, so I think you nailed.
Check your iron. This was a big sign for me that I was anemic without realizing it.
Yes. This started in my late 30s.
