Brooks Brothers' summer sale is on, and they've got a lot of cute things, including this 100% supima cotton cardigan with variegated stripes — I've shown the black one but there's also a khaki and red one.

Because it's clearance, inventory varies by color, but they all have a good amount left. I like that the 100% cotton cardigan is machine washable, and has a bit of banding at the bottom for shape.

The cardigan was $138, but is now marked to $69 at Brooks Brothers. They actually have a number of cardigans in the sale that look great as well as a number of 100% cotton sweateres. I'd also trust them for short sleeved sweaters; this cashmere/wool one looks like a great basic.

Psst: there are a ton of striped cardigans in the Nordstrom sale too if you want to see what's trending!

Sales of note for 7/19:

  1. Anyone have a good podcast recommendation for a transcontinental flight? I’ve got about 8 hours to fill with something other than my typical political and news shows. I like a series but am not big on m_rder shows.

    1. I always recommend “The Rewatchables” – fun discussions about movies. There are a lot to choose from but the episodes with Bill Simmons, Sean Fennessey, Chris Ryan, and/or Van Lathan are my favorites.

  2. Extremely niche question, but I have no idea where else to turn: I just realized I messed up the math for an estimated quarterly tax payment and scheduled a payment that represents a significant overpay (to the tune of $5,000). I can’t modify or cancel the transaction in the IRS payment portal because the payment is still pending; it’s scheduled for Monday. I’ve called the IRS individual help line three times and can’t even get in the hold queue, my call keeps getting declined due to high volume.

Fortunately I can cover the payment but I will not lie, I had some plans for that $5,000…damnit. This is fixable, right? Or will I be waiting until my 2026 tax refund? Or have I just front-loaded all my side hustle tax payments for 2026?
