cwonder closing saleI never really got into C.Wonder, but a lot of people seem to be sad that the store is closing. If you happen to work near one of their 11 retail locations, get thee to a store — but for online shoppers there are still some great deals to be had. The website is currently 50% off — I would guess that's just going to get steeper and steeper in the next few days and weeks. All sales are final, alas, but some good buys, pictured:

  1. File me under sad they’re closing. I love their silk blouses, and I have some really cute, fun sweaters from there, too. :(

  2. Does anyone out there have experience with re-weaving? I have a couple of loved sweaters with holes and wonder if it’s worth it. From the research I’ve done, it can be expensive but the result looks like new. I have such a hard time finding clothes that fit that I am tempted to save them even if it is $50 to save a sweater that cost me $75 four years ago.

If anyone has recs in the Boston area, I’d love them! I can only find one in the North End, and there is not much info online. It appears dry cleaning chains like Dependable offer the service but I wonder if it’s as detailed as a specialist. TIA!

    1. There are services that do this. I can’t remember the name now, but I recently read about something recommended in Real Simple where you sent your item in and get back like new.
I have had a beautiful cashmere wrap redone at my dry cleaner’s and it was annoying but worth it. It had lots of small holes and they probably charged me about $25 for it. It came out well, esp. as it’s a scarf and you can wrap it such a way as to make it impossible to tell. I will say that my dry cleaner now hates me for it – they missed some holes, I had to bring it back, and the feeling I got was that they regretted having agreed to do this (and judged me for having moth eaten cashmere :)).

  3. I’ve been in a fashion rut over the last month, and I roused myself out of it a bit this morning, so who wants to play the “what are you wearing today” game? I’ll start!

Greenish pencil skirt, royal blue t-shirt, black-and-grey argyle tights, black almond-toe pumps, infinity scarf with blues and greens, wedding ring/sapphire ring/pearl earrings

    1. Navy blue wool pants suit, pink turtleneck, silver pendant necklace, tiny silver music note earrings, rings, black leather booties.

    2. Grey merino wool/cashmere blend crewneck sweater with buttons on the sides, white camisole, blue wool skirt, black, leggings, Frye boots. Silver drop earrings, agate/druzy chunky blue neclace, wedding set, eco-drive watch, Cape Cod bracelet. I’ve also had a plaid wool scarf on most of the day.

It’s so cold here that I don’t care about looking too serious. Govt in Wisconsin.

    3. Dark green Uniqlo cashmere V-neck, black halogen textured pencil skirt (from a suit Kat featured here a few months ago), necklace of several twisted strands of tiny beads in various blues and greens, greenish ceramic earrings from a local artisan, gold-tone bangle watch and new La Canadienne microfiber wedge boots so I can walk in the snow. (They are the single most expensive clothing or shoe purchase I’ve ever made, other than my wedding dress.) Oh, and fleece tights, but not from Walgreen’s.

Sweater, pencil skirt and boots are pretty much my boring winter uniform on non-suit days.

    4. I am wearing yoga pants, LS shirt and sweatshirt, infinity scarf, and a blanket (working at home). However, my sweatshirt, scarf, and blanket all coordinate! :)

    5. Charcoal tights, black scoop neck long sleeve top, cobalt JCrew #2 Pencil Skirt, accessorized with a cobalt scarf, everyday watch and rings, silver belt, and small silver hoop earrings with Black and White leopard print wedges. I actually am super happy about this outfit and feel fab today.

    6. Grey Hue jeggings (featured here about a year and a half ago) and a navy tee under a purple cowl neck Tahari sweater dress with grey flat boots. Plus, 3 silver bangles, silver dangly hoops and my black tank watch.

I’m feeling remarkably put-together despite the icy temperatures…

    7. I had court this morning, so dark navy suit, white sweater, and nude for me hose. I wore yoga pants under my skirt for the commute. I forget who said something similar to this a few weeks back, but with a puffy coat, warm scarf, hat, gloves, and snow boots–I surrendered my desire to be fashionable.

    8. black wool ankle pants, a navy/black/white printed blouse from Loft (very mod flower print), and black pointed toe flats.

Of course it is freezing in my office, so I have a blue scarf and a navy softshell jacket thing covering up my cute shirt.

    9. Beige wool sweater with pink/gray/maroon vertical designs, long maroon tank top for layering, skinny khakis over brown [sleek] combat style boots, and a light to dark brown gradient scarf. Wearing my boyfriend-style Fossil watch, a circular gold ring, and a diamond bracelet my mom gave me.

My outfits are casual because I work in a pretty informal, laid back environment.

  4. Judith & Charles black skirt suit, long sleeved pale blue silk blouse, black semi sheer patterned tights, diamond studs, Links of London signature necklace, silver, wedding ring/engagement ring/Raymond Weil watch.
Shoes are a cross between pumps and booties, black leather.

    It’s absolutely freezing here.

    1. It seems like the theme is dressing for the cold office… it’s ridiculous, there’s an email thread on whether we should get branded snuggies. Also, I just took off my peacoat for the first time today, so I should probably amend my post to read that it’s part of my outfit :)

      1. Yesterday I wore a black sheath dress. Because it is sleeveless I pulled out my warmest blazer, cranberry red. Undersneath the blazer I wore a very thin shrunken black cardigan. No one coudl see it but it added an extra layer which was nice.

Today I had my door closed and my heater on all day, full blast. My office is glass on three sides, to the exterior.

        I was still cold.

  5. I was never impressed with the C.Wonder merchandise. It looked good from afar but up close you could tell it was cheaply made. But one person we can be certain is very happy about this new is Tory Burch!
