I hunted for a black tote last year for travel that could hold the usual purse contents, plus a book, snacks, water bottle and whatever, but not laptop big, and was dismayed at the lack of choices in the $100 range. I don’t really like the rolled handles (too hard on the top of my shoulder when the bag is heavy) and wanted a zip closure for security. I ended up with a “The Sak” that has just a snap closure but otherwise fit the bill (for several trips at least) and kept looking. Last month, I found a beautiful croc Cole Haan on ruelala, originally $450 for $159. It zips but has the rolled handles, so I’ll see how it goes. Someday I’ll find THE ONE…
