Both companies (owned by the same parent) are having some great sales. Anne Klein is up to 60% off, while Jones New York is taking up to 75% off all sale items. Pictured: Items on sale at JNY include this lovely sweater (Notch Collar Sweater Jacket), was $109, now $64, with another 30% off at checkout taking it down to $45.49. Oh, and a nice bonus — free shipping on all orders (at both stores) for a limited time.
Don't forget about the holiday open thread, here…

I am intrigued by the Jones New York washable wool pants. I travel frequently and it would be nice to have a couple of pairs of pants that I can wash easily instead of waiting for dry cleaning. Do any of you have experience with these pants? Do they hold up well and keep their shape?
MJ
I posted virtually the same question a while back but didn’t get a review. Let’s flip a coin to see who tries them first!

Sounds good to me. I just bought a pair, so I’ll let you know.

Sorry to be the BargainBetty bah-humbug (yet again!). Cute working-woman gear. No style points, but it’s standard issue stuff we all need (pants, blouses, sweaters, etc). I like the price points at JNY. Anne Klein still seems somewhat pricey still; a lot of their stuff is cheaper at Loehmann’s or Smartbargains.com….

Thanks C! I just got a suit from JNY for $54.

I have not seen anyone mention my new favorite brand, carried at Lord & Taylor, Neimans, Nordstroms etc — Lafayette 148 New York. I have several suits from that brand and love them. They are pricey but are great values when on sale.
The Lafayette website has this cashmere jacket on sale : http://www.lafayette148.com/-strse-5432/Loro-Piana-Cashmere-Wing/Detail.bok I have lusted after it for a while but was unwilling to drop a grand. Now that it’s a mere half grand and change, I am trying to decide if I want it and if so, should I get the kiwi or pale amethyst color. They have quite a bit more on sale too. Which color do you all like?

Loro Piana makes gorgeous stuff. Go for it.

I have been wondering about that brand and am glad to get a recommendation. If it were me, I’d steer clear of the amethyst because it doesn’t look good on me and go with the kiwi or (more likely) the darker color. If the amethyst would look good on you, go for it. It still makes me cringe at $550+ price point.

Picked up a Pendleton Woolen Mills catalog (www.pendleton-usa.com) in a waiting room yesterday, and quelle surprise, some good-looking basic skirts, pants, jackets. Even some good under-suit lightweight sweaters. On sale, yet.

A JNY store just opened near my house. I went in and was horrified at the frumpiness of the styles – and I am no spring chicken. I think Anne Klein has a lot more fashion-forward types of suits and I actually found a great going-out silk top at the web site.
