mgemi launch

A friend of mine recently took a new job with a new company, M.Gemi — I'm psyched for her and for the company, which manufactures gorgeous shoes for work and beyond, all handcrafted in Italy. We'll have a more in depth sponsored post in a week or so (stay tuned!), but right now I wanted to give you a head's up about their pre-launch giveaway: You can go get an exclusive sneak peek now, as well as enter to win one of their first edition shoes — they're giving away 100 pairs!

Updated to clarify: To get the sneak peek on M.Gemi's site you must enter your email address — after that you can enter to win a giveaway by sharing with one friend (one entry per friend). (Full disclosure: this is a sponsored post, as noted in the headline, but Kat is not being entered to win free pairs of shoes via the links — they just allow the company to track the traffic so they know it came from Corporette.)

  1. I feel kind of betrayed that by following the link and signing up, I’ve actually entered *Kat* to win a pair of shoes… not myself. I have to get my friends to click the link and sign themselves up too before I’m entered. Hope the shoes are as cute as they look on the site!

    1. Yes, I was annoyed by that too. Kat, please make it clearer that clicking the link and providing an email enters *you* to win – in order to be entered, a person has to convince someone else to click on their link and provide an email address.
And the 3 pairs of shoes they showed me *after* I gave then my email address – not my style. Glad I used my spam email address.

Separate note – anyone read “Shoe Addicts Anonymous” and reminded of that story with their Italian shoe company?

    2. Also annoyed by this. I don’t want to have to share the link to be entered to win if I am told I can enter to win by going over to the site myself.

      1. I don’t think so — I think it’s just a tracking link so they can measure to see how well this post does for them (i.e., see how much traffic comes from Corporette). I’ll check with my friend. Tracking links are really common in all sorts of sponsored posts.

        1. I should clarify – I don’t mind that clicking the link enters you again Kat – whatever. But it looks like providing my email address doesn’t actually enter me to win – the way it is worded sounds like I have to get someone else to click on my link, then I would be entered.

I’m all for “get extra entries every time someone clicks on your link” – but it seems like giving them my email address was for nothing, I wasn’t actually entered. To quote the website and email I got (after I submitted my email address):

“We’re gifting 100 people this week with free shoes from our first edition. To be eligible, share your unique link below by email or on Facebook. For every friend who signs up, you’ll receive an entry to win 1 of 100 pairs of our first edition shoes”

  2. So…this is possibly the most annoying product/brand ‘launch’ I have encountered. Is M Gemi’s entire marketing strategy to suck up as many emails as they can while being as vague as possible about the actual product?

I have to give them my email address before I can even ‘take a peek’ at the website. And there are only three styles of shoe on the site, with no product details. The only thing I know about the shoes is that they’re ‘handcrafted in Italy,’ which absent any further details I will assume means 99% assembled in China, with the tassels or whatever finishing touches added in Italy.

I like fine Italian shoes as much as the next overachieving chick, but I do not have time for this brand.

  3. I decline to give some questionable “company” my email address–even my spam one–for the great privilege of looking at products they are trying to sell to me for hundreds of dollars. They’re starting up a business by “giving away 100 pairs” (so, $30,000 in lost revenue?) and refusing to let customers see their wares. Seems legit.

  4. I apologize for all the confusion guys. I’ve updated the post to better clarify it, and hopefully be more transparent. I am being paid for the post, but the links in the post are tracking links, not entry links.
