Pique Dress & Jacket SetFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. This week's Suit of the Week is the lovely Albert Nipon pique dress and jacket, currently on sale at Neiman Marcus. We like the fact that it's cotton and very breathable in the summer — yet because of the texture of the pique knit, wrinkles are less noticeable. It's ladylike, but is just as appropriate at an office as it is a socialite's luncheon. It's priced at $209 for the set (was $298). Pique Dress & Jacket Set

  1. I was all ready to spend my Neiman’s gift card on this, but nothing smaller than 4! Does anyone know if this runs small?

  2. I just ordered this suit! The website only shows a couple sizes, but if you call the store they have a new shipment of sizes coming in next week.

  3. I have this suit in white (got it last year) and wore it all summer. Its a definite staple.

  4. my experience is Nipon runs big. See on the NM website if it is modern or classic size — one of them runs smaller.

  5. the modern sizes run smaller, contemporary brands, while classic sizes like Nipon run larger.

I’m surprised pique is getting such a favorable response.

  6. It’s nice, but… Listen, if you aren’t a fashion model, you’re going to look like the suit is too small, even if you buy it in the right size. Dare you, coporette.com, to put the same suit on a woman of “normal” size and see what I mean.

Also remember when picking out a suit, that if the jacket doesn’t cover your butt, you can’t wear it with pants– unless you have an aboslutely perfect butt and you’re okay with being thought of as not quite serious about your profession– unless you’re a coporate– ahem.

  7. woah- jacket has to cover the butt to be worn with pants? that’s one I’ve never heard of before and I can’t even picture a butt covering suit jacket, wouldn’t that look ridiculously long?

I don’t have a perfect butt, and I am plenty serious about my profession, but my nice, conservative Ann Taylor and JCrew suit jackets don’t come close to covering my butt- I figure that is what pants are for . . .

  8. I also don’t own any jackets that cover my butt and can’t imagine one either. Any examples, Elle?
