For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

We're loving this beautifully designed and reasonably priced skirt suit from Max Studio. The curve of the seams, the hidden pockets, the slightly rough look to the jacket — we love it all. We'd buy it as a suit but probably end up wearing the jacket a lot as a topper for other outfits. The jacket (FAILLE SEAMED JACKET) is $178 (was $342), and the skirt (STRETCH FAILLE PENCIL SKIRT) is $98 (was $148).

  1. Way cute! My only concern is that the skirt would look to short on my 5’9″ frame. Any thoughts?

  2. Great find! Emily I am your height, and I agree with that concern too – that said, it might have enough material at the hem that it can be lengthened.

  3. I totally love this suit too. So cute, so sophisticated, so unique, yet classic. Perfect– thanks!

  4. Hmm! I am in the minority as I’m not much of a fan on this one. Maybe it’s just the color that’s turning me off, but I also don’t like the shape of the neckline or the curved seams on the skirt.

  5. I just bought the jacket. I’m not a fan of the seams on the skirt (especially in the back), but the jacket is a perfect way to dress up a pair of black pants or to throw over a sleeveless black shift dress .

  6. I’m with Eva. I think it looks a little ’80s flight attendant. I think it’s something about the shoulders.

  7. This is the first suit that you’ve featured that I love! Purchased the suit immediately! I totally agree that the jacket will be great with other outfits, and I share some apprehension about the skirt length. Great find!

  8. I really like this suit, especially the color, but are the shoulders looking a bit Melanie Griffith a la “Working Girl” to anyone else?

  9. Yuck–I agree with Amy–very 1980s flight attendant. Looks cheap as well. The skirt might be okay (would have to examine the material), but that jacket is definitely “Oh honey, no.”

  10. I don’t like the fact that the jacket seems to show the belly button even though the jacket is buttoned … too funky for me and I don’t think the color is nice either

  11. This suit looks barely passable even on the model- with the belly button showing and already at the point where it’s bordering on too short. I think this is one of the few suits featured that I’ve really disliked. It just seems like it would be very easy for one or both of the pieces to be too short on a normal person.
