Wednesday’s TPS Report: Minnie Pant

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. Many thanks to this week’s guest poster, Carolyn Hsu of The Daily Obsession and The Hsu Closet!

For skinny pants that are not TOO skinny for the office, nothing beats the Minnie cut from J Crew. For an easy office look, grab a pair in your favorite color and match with a white button down and fitted sweater. The ankle length is flattering on almost everyone and works whether you prefer kitten pumps or sky high heels. These wool herringbone pants are $128. Minnie pant in wool herringbone

Thursday’s TPS Report: Sloan Fit Herringbone Flare

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Banana Republic Sloan Fit Herringbone FlareI’m psyched that the flared look is back in style because I have always found the skinny style to be less than flattering on me. For today’s TPS, I’m digging these grey herringbone trousers from Banana Republic. I might wear them with the lavender blouse they’re pictured with, as well as a velvet or corduroy blazer on top for a fall day; for spring I might wear them with a white blouse topped with a yellow sweater. They’re $89.50, available in shorts, regulars, and longs. Banana Republic Sloan Fit Herringbone Flare

Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Herringbone Jersey Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Armani Collezioni Herringbone Jersey DressLove, love, love this herringbone jersey dress from Armani Collezioni. Love the feminine silhouette with a “masculine” pattern, and I think the scoopneck, sleeves, inverted pleats, and concealed back zipper (huzzah!) are perfect for the office. It’s $745 at Saks Fifth Avenue.  Herringbone Jersey Dress

Thursday’s TPS Report: Herringbone band blazer

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Gap Herringbone band blazerGap has a number of cute items right now (cardigans and t-shirts and blazers!) and our favorite is this hip herringbone blazer, which reminds us of (a more expensive) one we featured a few weeks ago.  We’d wear it with a blouse and a sweater vest to really play up the “professor-chic look,” as they call it, but we also think it would be great on a casual Friday with jeans and a tee.  It’s $98 at Gap. Suit of the Week

iconiconFor busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

We found this fabulous hunter green herringbone suiting collection through the dress, actually — we nearly posted it as a TPS by itself and then realized it had matching pieces.  Still:  LOVE the dress, the high neckline, the nipped waist — and even the slight cap sleeves, which won’t bunch up under your jacket but allow you to take your jacket off and roam the halls.  The green herringbone is an interesting fabric, as well — we’d wear the pieces as separates and accent with black, navy, cream pieces — or even a dark purple.  The jacket (Antonio Melani “Adam” Jacket) is $199, the dress (Antonio Melani “Nasira” Dress) is $159, and the pants and skirt (not pictured) are $129 (Antonio Melani “Antonio” Pants) and $99 (Antonio Melani “Katie” Skirt).

Happy Wednesday!  Today we’re liking this herringbone suit from Ted Baker, available at Nordstrom.  The skirt was what caught our eye first, with the interesting button detailing up the side, as well as the great color of gray.  We like the single, highly placed button, and we’re curious to see the “vintage lining.”  Lovely!  The jacket (Ted Baker ‘Meriado’ Wool Blend Herringbone Jacket) is $350, and the skirt (Ted Baker London ‘Vanni’ Herringbone Pencil Skirt) is $185.
