Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
Reader J suggests today's Bottega Veneta wool herrinbgone, on sale at Net-a-Porter. We loooove this. The fitted shape, the interesting detail on the seams, the high-but-still-flattering collar — gorgeous. We even like it with the sleeves scrunched up. Gorgeous! Was $1400, now $980 at Net-a-Porter.com — only lucky size 6 is still left. Bottega Veneta Wool herringbone jacket

LOVES LOVES LOVES! In my size too. Trading down now, and holding onto ducats, but nice to see what’s out there… :-)
In that suit, the model looks like she has birthing hips — and she’s a model! Can’t imagine it would look flattering on me….
What hips??
Really nice jacket but I don’t even think I can ever buy anything so expensive even if I were rich enough to do so.
Seriously, “birthing hips”? She looks gorgeous. This is a beautiful suit.
I’m with Rosie: her hips look wide for a model, which makes me wonder how it would look on an everyday person. I’d consider wearing the jacket with black pants instead.
Oh, yum!! Wish it came in my size.
Very nice. Now I am reminded of a beautiful Bottega Veneta bag I once had in gray … Ah, the eighties.
I agree, this is fabulous. Out of my price range and not my size…..but fabulous.
Can we have some non-wool suggestions? Some of us are allergic, and we’ve had a lot of wool lately–suits, merino sweaters, etc.
Pretty!!!
Um, Rosie, what kind of hips are women supposed to have? I think the model looks skinny, as all models do.
I cannot even look at anything that places wool against skin without itching. If I were to be in the same room as a person wearing that jacket, I would itch. My only exception is cashmere, which works fine for me. But for attorneys and the like, I am also sort of concerned about the cost. Most of us do not earn all that much, or if we do, it is during a fairly short time frame. We must be thrifty, n’est-ce pas? Jackets have a funny way of going out of style very fast.
There are only a few truly classic jacket styles, I think. This, while gorgeous, is not one of them. Speaking of which, I am hoping the long, straight style that is coming back will go out of style ASAP. It doesn’t work for women with hips at all.
On that note, I agree with the posters who say there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this woman’s hips. Her shoulders still look wider than her hips, so I am not sure what the issue is.
I hate suits…but this is gorgeous…alas…haven’t been a 6 since before 1st kid…..
That is GORGEOUS! OMG! I wish I could afford this and that it was still in stock in a smaller size.
i am with the wool=itchy folks, though I did get a sweater this year with only a small percentage of merino that is tolerable….I think the “hip issue” is that the jacket ends at the hip and might accentuate that measurement, especially with another color skirt.
J.Crew has a very similar, much cheaper (and cotton!) option available for those interested.

Saw the blazer and skirt in-store and they were eye-catching in a good way.
