Frugal Friday’s TPS Report: Polka Dot Silk Blouse

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Women's Polka Dot Silk BlouseLands’ End Canvas has some great deals on blouses right now. I like this little polka-dotted number — the three-quarter sleeves and “mockneck” give it a fresh look. I’d wear it with a gray pencil skirt, perhaps accented with a yellow belt. It was $89.50, but is now marked to $39.99. Women’s Polka Dot Silk Blouse

Wednesday’s TPS Report: Galena Printed Silk Top

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

Julie Haus Galena Printed Silk TopOooh: I’m digging this interesting silk blouse by Julie Haus. Now, The Outnet has an artistic-sounding description involving words like “digital-print florals” and “spliced mirror-image patterns” that sounds a bit like it came out of a museum catalog. Me? I just think it’s gorgeous and kind of ghostly. It was $315, but is now marked to $126 (limited sizes only, alas). Julie Haus Galena Printed Silk Top

Thursday’s TPS Report: Molten Blouse

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

If you’re in the mood for prints, this silk/cotton top from Anthropologie is a fun way to liven up your workday. I’d pick one of the teeniest splashes of color to accent an otherwise neutral outfit — the periwinkle, or perhaps the orange — with another accessory such as a belt, a necklace, or even a pair of shoes. It’s $98 at Anthropologie. Molten Blouse

Thursday’s TPS Report: Silk Bookmark Blouse

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. This week, we welcome guest poster Becki Singer of Shopping’s My Cardio.

Silk Bookmark BlouseI hope my darling hostess won’t hate me for it, but I went the tiniest bit over budget on this pick. Forgive me? Absolutely every closet needs a perfect silk blouse – polyester substitutes don’t come close to the fit, drape and flow of the real thing. This version from Madewell is one of the most affordable I’ve found at $110, and it comes in all of those rich jewel tones you’ll be craving when the weather turns cool. Perfect under a suit during the week, but try layering it under a trim-fitting vest in lieu of a blazer, or beneath a chunky knit sweater paired with a pencil skirt. This is also a gorgeous weekend look with denim. In a perfect world, I’d buy one of each and be set for the season. Silk Bookmark Blouse
