The lace-up boot trend is hot right now, and we're totally into it — it strikes us as Victorian and modern at the same time. This pair is $274.95 at Zappos.com. Sam Edelman – Sanford (Whiskey Leather) – Footwear

I keep seeing ads for the old navy skinny cargo pants. please, can someone explain the appeal?? I mean, I get skinny pants that aren’t jeans, but really, what is the point of the pockets??
I’m looking at getting an internship over the summer in DC. I’ve been looking for some versatile “suit separates,” tops, and skirts. I know it’s early, but I’d like to begin the process of creating a complete semi-professional wardrobe. My options so far have been stores like Ann Taylor Loft, Gap, Banana Republic, and any mainstream department store. My question: Can I get some recommendations for a few places I just don’t know about? (on my college girl’s budget)
Definitely check out Nordstrom Rack and look in the Individualist section for the Classiques Entier brand. I love their suits and separates. They are too expensive full price, but their sales prices are pretty good (albeit, definitely more expensive than Gap and BR).
Check out Halogen at Nordstrom. I Found that Classiques, while nice, was waaay out of my student budget even on sale. Halogen tends to be less expensive than BR/AT suits.
GO OUTLET SHOPPING!!! That way you can get yourself really nice things for less – try the Brooks Brothers’ outlets for really good quality pieces. I’ve gotten ‘previous seasons and ‘manufacturered for the outlet’ pieces there. I have no problem wit’ the quality of the latter sort of item either.
Thanks so much! I’m definitely a bargain shopper. I love TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and local outlets. The Halogen line is really cute and reasonably priced. The problem will be finding conservative clothes in juniors sizes (I’m 2 to 4). Most women’s sizes just don’t fit me well. Sadly, I have no access to Off Fifth, Nordstrom Rack, Filene’s, etc here in small town Mississippi. I’ll keep searching! (and crossing my fingers for an internship) I’ve probably cursed myself simply by looking for walk-able heels as early as October.
