Kat - Behind The Scenes: American Living for JCPenney Video ShootI totally forgot to announce this yesterday on the blog — congratulations to the winner of the $250 giftcard! I chose the number via a random number generator — the winner was Carolyn, who posted at 7/30 at 1:12 pm. Congratulations also to the winner of the grand $1,500 prize, chosen from the 10 participating blogs — it was comment #50 from College Fashion! Thanks to everyone who played along!

The video series was sponsored by JCPenney and produced by Style Coalition.

  1. Am I the only one that finds it suspicious that by ‘random draw’ the winner is also the person who plugged JC Penney in their post a lot?

    1. I swear, it was a random # generator! Didn’t want to get into it because it’s complicated, but I said there were 1-156 comments, and the comment generator spits back: 149. Ok, so I go off to find 149… and then realized that the comments restart the numbering at the beginning of each page. So I suppose I was fortunate it was 149 and not something in the middle — I went to the end and counted up, and Carolyn’s was 149. I’ll add the screenshot of the random # generator to the post.

      1. Oh for Pete’s sake, adding a screenshot isn’t necessary. Are we really going to question the legitimacy of what Kay says regarding a contest that required nothing more to enter than a 30-60 second time investment? Kat has always gone to great lengths to be honest and up front regarding her business dealings and any financial interest she has in posts. While I am not an overly trusting person by nature, I feel pretty confident that, had the intent been to reward the biggest JCP supporter, the contest would have been structured as such. No need to make harmful and hurtful insinuations.

    2. I don’t want this to come off as rude, but I sincerely hope that you are the only person, Anon. Can’t we be happy for her rather than question Kat’s integrity? Congrats Carolyn.

      1. Second! Seriously. Congrats Carolyn, and congrats Kat on a really nice Made for Moment. I showed it to my daughters (11 and 8), and they were like ‘oooh, Mommy, she’s so cool and nice!’ And they are a tough audience, I tell you! NB: they also said ‘she looks better than all those ladies we see in YOUR office – are you sure she’s a lawyer too?’ hahaha.

  2. Congrats to Carolyn! I happened to win the gift card on another blogger’s site, and I’m pretty stoked. I hope Carolyn feels the same way I do, like an unexpected gift just dropped out of the sky.

Most of the other bloggers required your entry to include a link to a particular American Living piece and a description of how you would wear it. The fact that Carolyn chose to be enthusiastic about the product was SOP on the other entry sites. I found a dress I liked at JCP and wrote about it to enter the contest. Does that make me a shill? I hope not. If I didn’t like what JCP was offering, I wouldn’t have bothered to enter.

Thanks, Kat, for the contest. I enjoyed visiting the other blogs that were involved, although I probably won’t become a regular reader on those. Corporette rocks.

  3. I went in JC Penney not too long ago to buy a watch, and also, I just run in sometimes because “my” Penney’s has a Sephora. Anyhow, they have cute, work-appropriate dresses and skirts now, who knew (the cute part, I mean . . . )? And, their clothes seem to go up to at least size 16, but not necessarily be the old-fashioned “old lady” clothes of yore I was used to from Penney’s.

I’m not angling for a gift card. :)

  4. Shoot! My name is Carolyn, and when I first saw this post was all “YES!!!” and feeling celebratory, forgetting I use a SN for my posts here. Sadly the winner was a different Carolyn… but many congrats to her!
