Happy Monday! I’m loving this simple green sheath dress from Oscar de la Renta, featuring a unique tulip neckline. I like the belt they’ve styled it with, but it would be great with a more feminine belt as well. I’d wear it with a gray blazer for the office. It’s $1890 at Bergdorf Goodman. Tulip-Neck Sheath Dress

Today I’m liking this silk abstract floral dress from Banana Republic. Floral dresses can be great for all sorts of things — baby showers! ladies’ luncheons! etc. — but they can also work for the office if accessorized correctly, i.e., erring on the professional side of things. Here, for example, I’d wear a dark muted blazer (black, navy, dark brown) instead of a cardigan, and I’d wear closed-toe pumps instead of peep-toes or sandals. Even though I love a pearl necklace I’d stay away from that here and maybe go for a statement necklace, or even a scarf that compliments the colors of the dress (a solid blue one, perhaps). The dress is $150 at Banana Republic, available in regular, talls, and petites.Banana Republic Silk abstract floral dress

J.Crew has a ton of cute dresses out right now, including this lovely “boardroom dress,” available in coral and navy. I like the banded waist, the fold details, and the high neckline. It’s $158 at J.Crew (all sizes still left, as far as I can tell). Boardroom dress in superfine cotton

Interesting: I knew that Tahari had a number of lines out — Elie Tahari, T Tahari, Tahari, Tahari by Arthur S. Levine — but I have not seen this one, “Mix by Tahari,” which seems to be a new line of reasonably priced suiting separates at Dillards. I love the wide, almost square scoopneck on this black dress — it looks so flattering but everything’s covered up. It’s $69 (sizes 4-18) at Dillards. Mix by Tahari Belted Dress

I really like this simple sheath dress from Ann Taylor, available online only. The V-neck and empire waist are flattering to curvier girls (and can create curves for straighter girls), and the neckline in the back is nice and high. It’s $158, but thanks to a promotion at Ann Taylor you can take 30% off all dresses, including this one. Lots of sizes left, in regular and petites. Tropical Wool Crossover Sheath Dress

A bright blue sheath dress can be an interesting twist on a basic: the color will definitely make it noticeable (and memorable — you probably can’t wear this one more than once every two weeks!) but it’s still just as versatile and easy as the original. I like the color, and would pair it with very different colors to make different outfits: perhaps a neutral (black, navy, beige) blazer with pumps for one, or perhaps a moss green long cardigan (with boots, perhaps, if your office allows) for another, or even layered beneath a simple crewneck sweater in navy or purple for a colorblocked effect. (Or, stick with me: how about a red patent belt, belted on top of a white cardigan?) It was $298, now marked to $177.90 at Nordstrom (sizes 2-12 still available).
