I agree the Le Pliage is a classic bag but it doesn’t belong on the list. The list is about classic investment bags, and the Pliage, at $145, isn’t an “investment” piece.
I guess that depends on your income bracket. I’d say the fact that it’s made of nylon and looks like it should cost $10 is what makes it not an investment piece.
I hate the term “investment bag.” Maybe splurge bags, but not investment bags. You don’t put your kids through college with a purse.
yes but if you need money quickly you can sell it and “investment” bags do have a resale market. I personally have sold a few of my own (not for financial need but because I have too many).
Ditto on the LV Speedy sentiment. I don’t understand why I see so many of them around the city. They look like such an impractical size and shape for an everyday bag.
Oh, I didn’t like their list at all! What about a classic Bottega Veneta hobo, an Hermes Kelly, or even a simple leather (no logos) Coach tote?

2) a classic Chloe bag. Great quality, timeless but not trite/overly replicated designs
3) quilted Marc Jacobs Stam bag and/or Blake satchel

when I think of an “investment” bag, 2 things come to mind. Quality & durability (it’s had better last a long time and be able to tolerate extreme usage) and resale value. As an investment advisor I cringe at the term “investment” bag but I am at a loss as to how else to describe it.
LV epi range for sure. And Bottega Veneta’s Veneta bags.
