Bargain Friday’s TPS Report: Ann Taylor’s Ruffle Ponte Wrap Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.
Ann Taylor is having a great sale for Mother's Day — 25% off all items (through 5/10). Which means that lovely, basic dresses like this one go from being marked down to being a serious steal. This one is your basic wrap, with some not-too-frilly ruffles around the neckline. We like the wideness of the belt (it'll probably smooth out any imperfections) and the inset waistband at the back. Was $129, marked to $59; use code MOTHERSDAY to bring it down to $44. Ruffle Ponte Wrap Dress

I’m not against wrap dresses generally, but for some reason this one reminds me of a short, black bathrobe. In any case, too short for the office.
It wouldn’t be too short on me, but it’s only available in a size 4. Alas.
I’ve tried this on – I have short legs, and this hit right on the knee for me, which I consider appropriate for work. And it definitely didn’t look like a bathrobe, b. But I have a small chest, and the wrap would’ve required some serious safety pinning to keep the neckline consistently modest, so it was a no-go.
I have this dress and love it love it love it. Great non-client meeting work choice (with a cami underneath of course).
I tried the dress on – at almost 5’10” it was too short on me for the office, but should work well if you are a few inches shorter. It does require a camisole to be completely office appropriate IMO, but it’s a great basic. Then again I might be biased considering I am wearing a black wrap dress today.
