banana Republic leather knotted belt

Banana Republic is having yet another online-only sale today (20% off orders of $75+ with code BRSAVE20), and we're digging this wide belt that has some leather, and some cloth.

We like that the reviewers all rave about the amount of stretch in the belt and the way it lays properly; we think it would be a great way to add some shape and spunk to a sweater dress or cardigan.

It's $38 at Banana Republic in sizes XS/S and M/L. Leather knotted belt

  1. OK, Banana people, take a look at the skirt suits they’re showing now. Has anyone tried these on? Don’t they look super-short in the photos? I’m 5’7″, so I’m not supermodel height, but these skirts are looking too short to be office-appropriate in my world. Are we returning to the days of Ally McBeal or (who was Heather Locklear’s character on the original Melrose Place???)

    1. Wow those are super short. Description says they are 19.5 inches long. Today I’m wearing a Banana pencil skirt that is 27 inches long (older season) and it just barely covers my knees. I’m 5’8. This would probably look very mini indeed!

    2. I think BR’s had the short skirt thing going on for a while now. I know I tried one on in the outlet in early July and immediately put it back. I am 5’5″ with a long torso, so when it’s too short on me, it’s probably going to be too short on shorter women with slightly longer legs.

      1. My first thought is that everyone would have to wear it with a cami.

My second thought is that this shell is pointing at her crotch. Not sure I want that for work.

      2. I can’t imagine a cami looking good under this shirt. I saw it in the stores and wasn’t too impressed…I’d consider buying it if it was on sale.

    3. I normally love Banana’s stuff, but I’m staying the hell away from their skirts as of late. I’m 5’7″, and the last pencil skirt I tried on (less than a month ago) hit me a good 4-5″ above the knee. Sitting down was not an option.

        1. Remember you can also buy most skirts in tall through Banana. I did that recently with one of their skirts and it worked perfectly.

    4. Maybe this means the economy is getting better? Stocks and hems on their way up! (Look at it that way and stock up on pants suits for now I guess).

  2. Wow, they do look short. I’m 5’5″, so those might, MIGHT work on me. But I can’t imagine them being appropriate on taller women.

  3. It is a truth universally acknowledged that shorter skirts use less fabric and are therefore sold at a higher profit margin by the manufacturer, if priced the same. Another truth is that longer skirts can always be shortened, but shorter skirts can seldom be lengthened.
