Coffee Break: Cole Haan Prudence Small Soft Tote
Accessories · Fashion · Sales · Wear to Work
In the “sometimes a good sale is a curse” department, Endless is having an amazing sale on bags right now (ends today), including bags like Cole Haan, botkier, Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Spade, and more. Four separate Cole Haan bags are currently hurtling their way through the mail to me via free shipping. (Three are going back, I swear.) But: Yes. Good sale. One of the bags I bought was this Cole Haan bag, which I've lusted after in the department store — supremely soft, nice size for when you don't need to carry papers or notebooks, and can go from work to weekend without much problem. Was $428, marked to $235.40 (in black and red); price drops to 164.78 with 30% special offer. (It only shows up at checkout!) Also available in gray (for $428). Cole Haan Prudence Small Soft Tote

Love the image of bags hurtling toward you!
Have to ask though – what is the advantage of a “soft” bag? I’ve always preferred structured bags that can sit on the car seat or floor without tipping over.
I assumed she meant the leather itself was soft as opposed to the structure of the bag.
I second this; I’m pretty sure she was talking about the feel of the leather.
A soft-sided tote often fits more shizz than a structured one.
I find that they are much lighter. I have enough stuff to put in my bag that is heavy as is, I need a bag thatis not 3 lbs on its own empty.
Something about the super-wide weave is throwing me off. It looks like a lot of (expensive leather) seatbelts had to die to make this bag.
I think the seatbelts are busy making this bag actually

I bought this bag a while back in the red color. It’s very roomy and when I carry it, it’s a nice addition to my otherwise mostly black, gray, white and navy work wardrobe. The straps are a little short in proportion to the rest of the bag, so I think it looks a little funny to carry it on the sholder. Luckily I prefer to carry my bags, other than evening bags of course) in my hand, like a briefcase.
I suppose I shouldn’t be viewing this website at work but before, I used to be able to click on the links of the original Corporette post to look at the featured item. I can no longer do so because the links are blocked by my company because they’re being redirected by an ad service. Very annoying.
Same here… My work blocks video streaming (no Youtube!), music streaming (no internet radio, sob), and lots of other stuff. I bring my personal laptop to work and have it atop my desk. No co-mingling work and non-work ;-D
The day they blocked Pandora and Gmail chat was a sad one indeed at my office.
love, but love most CH
YUM! Possibly the best deal posted this week!
I’m trying to buy a bag at Endless and no additional discount is being applied at checkout. I even tried with Kat’s pictured Cole Haan bag to see if that worked. Nope.
Is there a code I should be trying? Thanks!
It doesn’t show up in your cart — you actually need to click “proceed to checkout.” It will say “Promotion Applied” and subtract the 30% from your total.
Try this link: http://ow.ly/1WZaQ — the discount will show up at checkout (valid through tonight only)
Thanks, guys! Turns out the bag I want doesn’t have any additional markdown after all. :( Oh, well – better for the wallet!
There was a Botkier in that sale that was calling my name, but alas, even with the discount, it was still too expensive.
Threadjack: what do you do to help yourself get over a really cruddy day, so you can start fresh with a renewed outlook the next morning?
I have a glass of wine and watch some horrible/funny/favorite TV. This resets my brain and makes me forget about my day. Alternatively, a phone call or hang out with a friend works as well.
And look at the bright side: your really cruddy day is done. Tomorrow HAS to be better, just because it’s not today. :-) Hope you have a much better tomorrow!
I live alone with my dog (best gift to me ever, by the way), so when I get home on lousy days (and good ones), I take her for a long walk through the park down the street from where I live… It takes me out of my head, away from the office. She’s so happy to be out and about, and we always meet different people (lots of kids b/c the park has a ton of soccer fields and playgrounds), and I find it really relaxing to not only be walking but also to interact with people outside of my regular day, and watching my dog play with the kids we meet is always a treat. By the time I get home I’ve separated out the work day from my evening and can relax — or (let’s be honest) study for the CPA exam (stress of another kind!)
My motto though – is that “This Too Shall Pass” — whatever it is, time will move forward and whatever is going on will come to a conclusion.
I totally agree with this — I think most of us could us more fresh air, it’s amazing what a difference even brief (but leisurely! hurried commutes don’t count) time outdoors can make. And my dog is also the best antidote to a bad day — seeing the simple things that delight an animal can really pull me out of the pity parties I throw for myself. Whether it’s a cat or a dog or something lower-maintenance, I really do buy into all those studies that say owning a pet can ease anxiety and depression.
Do a hard-core workout that will blow the day away and give you a sense of accomplishment. I do Crossfit and totally recommend it. If you’re finishing work too late to make it a class (or your own gym), do a challenging workout at home. Jump rope is good too. Seriously. Travels well too.
Also: never underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep:)
hey, thanks! I finally found a classic, simple bag for work in a nice metallic, and with sale + 30%, it was only about $125 – the original retail was over $300. I work in a federal office building and it’s a challenge to find clothes/shoes/bags that are stylish, appropriate and affordable.
Bag care question –
I have two bags I bought about two years ago that I love and which sat unused (in their nice storage bags), but the leather seems very dry and not longer as supple to me. These are pretty much the first two nice bags I’ve owned, so I am clueless on bag care. Any suggestions about products to use? Or where to get them? Any other suggestions for bag care?
Thanks!
Coach makes a very good leather cleaner and moisturizer set. I highly recommend it; the moisturizer will help keep your bags soft. You can get it at a Coach store, and probably at department stores that sell Coach too.
I have this bag in black and absolutely love it. I have gotten a lot of compliments on it, and it is great for work. Higly recommended, especially at this bargain price.
