A reader tipped us off to the lovely Gorjana line a while ago, and for today's coffee break we are loving this simple ring. It's delicate and interesting, yet won't get snagged on clothing. We also like that it doesn't have the recognizability of the Elsa Peretta line from Tiffany's — it's just a streamlined, lovely ring. It's $32 at Shopbop.com (which still has its spring sale going on). Gorjana Croix Ring

This is cute — love the low price (I tend to slip off jewelry while I’m typing and have been known to leave a bracelet or ring on my desk when I leave at night, on occasion)

I love this too! Great price. I LOVE silvery jewelry (as I look better in silver given my cool undertones) and this would be a simple and lovely piece for everyday wear. I probably wouldn’t wear it on my pinky like the model does, and I’d need it in a size 5 for a perfect fit. Oh well, still a great choice, Kat!

can anyone comment on the “fitzwell” brand on zappos? I realize they’re frumpy and all, but I’m looking for some comfortable slip-on ballet-type shoes for the summer for commuting and maybe wearing in my office….. so has anyone ever tried these, and know if they might fit the bill? thanks!
Justine
yes I bought some and I hate them – no support and they are cheap! Don’t buy them

Yes. I agree with anon. I bought a pair of Fitzwell boots once, and they split right at the seams after the third wearing. Luckily Zappos gladly took them back and I received a full refund.
Woman of Color
Meant to say I agree with Justine.

Check out a.fashion.deliberation’s blog post about the Bloch flats (in two posts dated 4/1 and 3/29). This might be just what you’re looking for.

I added the word “dot” to try and make sure my comment wasn’t held up in moderation. But clearly there should be just a period b/t “blogspot” and “com.”

I recently purchase a pair of Bloch ballet flats to wear to wedding in Savannah and they are truly the most beautiful and comfortable pair of ballet flats I have ever had.
I ordered them from Zappos after agonizing for weeks over a pair of similar Christian Louboutin flats. The Blochs looked better on my feet and were far more comfortable at less than half the price.
I highly recommend them.

ok, so what do you all recommend instead? black flats, reasonably office appropriate, some what ballet-like, comfortable, not over $100… do these exist?

Cole Haan.

I haven’t tried Delman’s new Mona style, but have liked their other flats — still not much support, but generally more structured uppers than lots of other ballet flats.

How is Delman’s new Mona different from the old Mona?
Cat
oh, thought it was new because I hadn’t seen it before. I’ve liked their “Work” style, but it seems to have disappeared — have never tried any flats with the elastic around the sides/back.

Have you tried driving moccasins? I have a pair from Jcrew that I’m finding really comfy. They take a little while to break in, but then they mold to your feet. If you are a half size, size down.

I have a pair of palladium and a pair of banana republic ballet flats, both comfy.

Have you tried Clarks?
Blueshoez
Love Clarks. They do have some non-Grandma styles, thank heavens.

Me Too flats. I absolutely love them. I’m pregnant right now and having major back/pelvic issues and had to swear off heels for the next four months. I now have five pairs of Me Too flats – they’re awesome.
I have black ones I love, but couldn’t find a picture. These are somewhat similar, though mine have a twisty thing instead of a bow.

They carry them at Nordstrom and all over the internet, and occasionally you’ll luck out at TJMaxx and find them for half price. I have the most adorable pair of red patent ones that I get compliments on every time I wear them.

Honestly? Try Crocs mary janes styles. They are also waterproof for rainy days. The brushed rubber ones look almost like leather and are perfect for the commute.

Great price, great style….. and simple for work and everyday. Great!
