Deal Alert: Kate Spade’s Surprise Sale

Gwendolyn DressKate Spade is having a surprise sale today, with prices up to 75% off. There are a ton of great totes for work (as well as work dresses and jewelry) so I thought I'd round up a few of my favorites:

  • Pictured above: The Gwendolyn dress, available in coral and white — it was $398, now marked to $139; lots of sizes left. Also check out the Peplum Dress, also $139, available in black and “alma green.” The Crepe Blazer also looks like a great deal — was $398, now $149.
  • The Gatsby Dot Huggies look like great small-but-blingy earrings for a workday — they're $29 (were $78).

  1. Who walks around with JUST a laptop in their bag? Or do you carry a laptop bag on top of a regular bag? They always look so nice and sleek but I always carry around a bunch of stuff.

    1. Yay! Kat, I love Kate Spade and these items. I will show the manageing partner both for the dress and the bag’s.

As for the OP, Beleive it or not, I do now b/c I have Mason carry everything else when I go to court. That is why this is so cute, and I can look lighter without haveing to schlep so much stuff! Dad also think’s I should look sleeker so that men will want to date AND MARRY me! YAY if it work’s! Already Noah is starteing to sniff around–he want’s to come over to my apartement again. I have to get the key back from the manageing partner’s brother so that Noah won’t think that I am dateing him. FOOEY! But I do NOT want to get the manageing partner angry b/c he is thinkeing of increasing my reimbursment to 50%. That would be so NICE if it work’s! He will tell me soon. YAY!!!!

    2. I like them for days when I have board meetings or other meetings that require me to bring my laptop or papers. My purse stays in my office and I just slip what I need into the front pocket of the laptop bag. I like that it is streamlined and i’m not juggling an armful of papers/technology.

  2. Fun! Semi-related tangent – Is there a name for the style of drawings/design on the Bella Bookshelf agenda at the Kate Spade sale?

  3. I have that Age of Innocence clutch, and I seriously love it. I get compliments on it all the time (I run in a nerdy crowd, I guess.) It is really well made. $129 is a steal.

  4. Some of these things look like better deals than they are. The stuff designed for the outlet is priced to be immediately marked 50% off. So a $300 bag is really a $150 bag, at $130 is only slightly discounted. Le sigh.

    1. Good point, Wildkitten. I bought the Wesley Fallon bag today at $179, “originally $478”. So I maybe saved $60 by your math above.
Still, I like it and think it looks like a serviceable work bag.

    2. I was disappointed in the majority of the stuff at the KS outlet and sort of disappointed in KS overall. I think their quality has declined. I have an amazing leather zip around wallet that isn’t available anymore. I found a new one on a resale website and snatched it up. The leather feels like butter. It’s not the same as the other KS wallets currently available because I inspected them all. I also have the cobble hill ellen cross body bag and I’m on my second one (bc i loved the first so much!) and even the quality of the same exact bag seems to have diminished. I had my previous bag for over two years. I’m not done with year 1 here and it’s not holding up well. I could treat the bag better, but I’ve treated it just as well as i treated the old one.

  5. The Gwendolyn dress is really pretty but it looks like it could be a bit low cut on someone who is not as small-chested as the model. Has anyone tried it on and can comment?

    1. I have it on in black today and am well-endowed. It’s definitely too low cut for the office without a cami. Yet here I sit in it in my office, without a cami. But I love it.
