Sara Colorblock DressSomething on your mind? Chat about it here. Happy Fourth of July! This is an odd week, isn't it? I guess we'll open a Weekend Open Thread for the federal holiday tomorrow — I hope everyone has a GREAT day off. I rounded up my top Fourth of July sales earlier today, and poked through them to find something fun to wear for your day off. I love the Last Call sale going on now! For example, this chic French Connection colorblock dress was $178… then marked to $79… and with the extra discount it comes to $47. Nice! Sara Colorblock Dress (L-2) Psst: Facebook chat with Kat at 1PM ET on Thursday. :)

Sales of note for 5/30/25:

  1. Can’t tell anyone IRL yet so I’m shouting it from the C-ette rooftops…

    I’M ENGAGED!!!!

Thanks for bearing with me, ladies.

  2. I just found tiny tiny yellowish spiders in my apartment (raised first floor). I’m guessing it is from the high humidity causing moisture in the apartment and/or basement, but there isn’t any way for me to identify the point from which the spiders are originating. Any suggestions?

I’ve vacuumed the webs (and a few spiders) and spread baking soda on some of the area that they may be entering from (there seem to be a lot from the ceiling, but I can’t really put baking soda there), but I’m not sure what else. I know there are sprays (but then I can’t stay here) and noise emitting things, but stores are closed so that will have to wait until tomorrow.

    1. Sounds like newly hatched baby spiders. I’d spray some Raid in the area and that should get rid of them. Most spiders lay hundreds of eggs so when they hatch it seems like a huge infestation, but it’s really not. Pesticide will take care of it.

      1. Thanks! I vacuumed yesterday (all the webs, etc.) and so far today see none. Hopefully that keeps up, but I’m going to go grab some spray or such just in case. Thanks so much!

I also feel badly killing spiders, but grossed out living with them. I know they do mostly good, but the idea of them in my bed/crawling on me (slash my mouth) while I sleep? Creeps me out way too much.

  3. Need feedback!

Is Amazon Prime worth the money? I love the free 2 day shipping, but does that apply to everything on Amazon? Or only the items that are specifically shipped by Amazon? I buy things on Amazon probably 2-3 per month, mostly electronics, books, DVDs, and gifts.

    1. Only on Amazon items. I have it, and for me it is worth it. I use it to watch movies, TV and borrow books often enough that it works out right. But I don’t have Netflix or Hulu Plus.

    2. Oh.my.god. I love me some Prime. But be prepared — if will probably cause you to spend a bit more on Amazon than you did before.

    3. Amazon Prime is awesome. So frickin’ awesome. Especially if you are a last minute shopper when it comes to gifts. Amazing. Imagine, overnighting your mother’s birthday gift for 3.99. Or you brother’s b-day. It’s a terrible invention for the procrastinator in me. I told this story recently here, but I once overnighted myself and air conditioner for 3.99 in the middle of the heat wave. It also saves you from making those extra 2 and 3 dollar purchases so that you go over the free shipping minimum.
