  1. I am in a conundrum and want to take a poll. I bought a few new pieces to spruce up my spring/summer wardrobe and be more fashionable but wondering if instead of buying “cheaper” items I should start to invest in a nicer wardrobe that will last. I struggle with this because I’m just not sure if those items will really last. Such as, I would love to buy a pair of loubitin’s — but will I just end up walking through them as fast as I do my $100 naturalizers?

Reading blogs like this one or Stylish Petite give me a skewed perspective I think.

So, how many of you have designer items (like Louboutin’s) in your closet? Do you wear them often? Do they wear quickly?

    1. I don’t have any really high price pieces, but I find that even going up to the $100-150 range of shoes (like Sofft) gives me shoes that are well made and last for years.

    2. I have four pairs of Louboutins that I wear regularly and they have worn very well. I got plastic or vinyl or something attached to the part under the toes that hits the ground when I got them and get new heel tips periodically as you would for any pair of heels. My oldest pair is probably 6 years old now and is still in great shape. FYI, I have a driving commute. FWIW, my other designer shoes have also worn well and some are over 10 years old and still going strong. I know this is going to sound snobby, but I haven’t bought cheap heels in 15 years so I can’t really compare durability.

  2. 0 “designer” brands, I go with the Macys and Nordstroms line Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, etc. I find that most of my “cheaper” stuff is pretty comfortable, looks nice, and lasts darn near forever anyways so I don’t have any real justification to spend 5x more. If I did it would probably be as a splurge to celebrate a raise or bonus or other momentous occasion but I would probably feel pretty guilty about it.

  3. Since Kat mentioned the BB sale, I got these pants the last time they had a big clearance and have been very pleasantly surprised with them. They’re comfy, super flattering, and I generally have a very hard time finding pants I like and these were perfect right out of the box. I think they run a little large so if you’re usually between sizes, go lower, and for reference I am curvy of thigh so not sure if they would be as good for a straighter figure.

  4. And I just bought two $79 turtlenecks at Club Monaco for $6.30 each, with free shipping. Kat, thank you so very much for aggregating all this info – you are awesome!

  5. Love this post! Check out our new blog, http://www.smartbeautifullife.com

Sounds like we have lots in common! :) Also, I am very impressed with your disclaimer section explaining what ads you post. I am hesitant to start a blog because don’t want it to seem as though we are being sneaky with ads. Great idea. Great blog!

  6. Anyone know the difference between the “Gabe” Theory blazer and the “Gabe-B” blazer (which is now on sale at Nordstrom’s)? I’d rather go to Nordstrom’s and try on the blazer to confirm sizing then buy the original “Gabe” – final sale – from Theory directly.

And is a grey suit (but not charcoal) acceptable for interviews? Curious re: your thoughts….
