What Hygiene Items Do You Keep at the Office?

It's been ages since we discussed toiletries and other office staples — since a lot of people are going back to the office or starting new jobs after school, let's discuss: what hygiene items do you keep at the office? Do you buy new items, travel-size items, or just bring half-empty items from home?
I would include things like the following — how about you, readers?
- Advil or other pain reliever
- extra deodorant
- extra sunscreen
- nail file
- contact lens case and solution, extra pair of eye glasses
- lip gloss and extra lipstick (readers have always loved Dior Addict, Afterglow Lip Balm, and Clinique Black Honey for being that happy medium, moisturizing lip tints!)
- tampons/pads/other period product
- NewSkin – papercuts stink!
- preservative-free eye drops like Theratears (don't overuse Visine, and be wary of allergies and eyes — here's my sad story of how I nearly permanently damaged/exfoliated my corneas)
- eye makeup remover if you work loooong hours and want to take mascara etc. off in the evening at the office
- basic makeup for touch ups – especially if you often go out after work for dates or to meet up with friends, I've always found that an eye brightener like Touche Éclat is better than new concealer, and you'd be surprised how much freshening your brows and blush can really reinvigorate your look.
- hydration packets — great if you feel like you're getting sick, if you're hung over (it happens), or if you're just parched — and there are newer ones that have caffeine in them also
How about you, readers — what hygiene items do you keep at the office?
Floss, period products, body wipes for my armpits, sometimes mouthwash, hand lotion.
In addition to the things already listed – glasses spray cleaner and a little cloth, nice hand cream, extra hair ties, Pepto Bismol.
Deodorant for sure. I’d say once every couple of years I’d manage to get out of the hosue without my deodorant and I was always happy to have it in the office.
I suffer from seasonal allergies so I always kept some Zyrtec D on hand. (That stuff is magic!)
Uh, wow, I don’t do most of this stuff. I have some Tums and Tylenol in my desk drawer, along with a lint roller. I always have lip balm in my handbag. Now that summer is coming, having deo on hand would probably be a good idea.
hydrocolloid/regular bandages — blisters from new work shoes can be terrible!
I have a little roll of moleskin in my desk drawer.
Aside from the list above:
-A small supply of a few other basic meds (cough drops, Tums, anti-diarrhea, Sudafed)
-Tide pen
-Bandaids of various sizes
-Travel size pack of facial cleanser wipes
-Hair ties & a claw clip
-Travel size hairspray
-Blotting paper & pressed powder
-Chapstick
-A pair of underwear and socks (a carryover from my firm days and wanting to at least have a fresh pair of THOSE if I had an all-nighter, but a surprise spotting event mid-cycle meant I actually used the undies midday once…)
oh and hand cream!
Typing this out it sounds like a lot, but it all fits in a Clinique freebie makeup bag from approximately 25 years ago!
I keep a hand lotion, lip balm and nail file on my desk. I’m lucky to have a drawer in the office where I keep almost a mini wardrobe – blazer, extra sweater, extra ballerina shoes, extra socks (I’m always cold, and I’ve also learnt from nasty experiences that it sucks to have wet feet when you get drenched coming to work). I also carry pads, pain reliever, throat candy and a mini toothbrush/toothpaste with me in my bag.
Oh yeah. I keep a nail file and a nail clipper on hand for a broken/jagged nail or a hangnail.
I keep an emergency kit at work that I know is overkill, but it has saved me and my coworkers so many times over the years.
– small medkit with a couple types of pain reliever, Pepto Bismol, Tums, Benadryl, and one dose of cold medicine, cough drops
– makeup kit (mostly drugstore products)
– tweezers and small magnifying mirror
– extra deodorant stick for me, deodorant wipes to share with any coworkers who find themselves in need
– toothbrush and toothpaste for me, mini ready-to-use disposable toothbrushes for coworkers
– mints
– makeup kit + makeup remover wipes
– Tide Pens
– hair ties and bobby pins, claw clips
– small sewing kit + fashion tape and safety pins
– $50 visa gift card, replaced as needed. I’ve used for a coworker whose purse was stolen while out at lunch so she could get a cab home, and as an emergency gift a few times.
– variety pack of bandaids
– extra contacts, contact solution, new case
– Lumify Eye Drops (these + concealer is the answer to covering up “I just cried at my desk” face…hate that I know that)
– electrolyte packets
The visa gift card is genius.
Surprised no one from the morning thread has chimed in with a list of the various disinfectants they spray on every surface in sight.
Deodorant, sunscreen, lip balm, lipstick, hand cream, hair brush, extra ponytail holder/claw clip, glasses lens wipes, and a rose water spray (wakes me up when I am dragging).
Hair clips, feminine wipes, 2-way mirror, earrings and earring backs, extra socks
All the things mentioned plus:
– really good blister plasters
– Ilia cheek/lip combo stick
– hydrating facial spray
– hair ties, claw clip
– mini dry shampoo
– neutral colour flats for feet emergencies, unplanned longer walks/site visits
– tide pen
– hand sanitizer
– facial oil roll-on (fixes under eye concealer that looks creased or any dry patches)
– safety pins (blouse gaping and I didn’t notice before leaving the house? Static cling issues, etc)
