No soup for you!
My firm has an unofficial policy that gifts to support staff be actual gifts and not cash or anything with an easily ascertainable monetary value (such as an x dollar gift card.) I think it is because while we are each assigned staff, the staff share a lot of work so everyone works with a lot of people. It often results in one attorney getting multiple support staff presents and wanting to give more to ones he/she works with more often without discriminating against the other. It is just less awkward when there isn’t a dollar amount screaming out from it.
I’ve got my gifts bought for the people I’m getting small gifts for. Now what about the big one for my assigned assistant? Could I do a spa gift card if it is good for “one massage, pedicure and facial” instead of saying “$200?” Any other ideas?
