We're liking this fitted navy blazer from Nanette Lepore. We like the satin detailing (particularly on the back), and we're intrigued by the banding at the bottom. I like this, but does anyone else find the lapels/colar to be a bit too theatrical for work?
Maybe I am being overly cautious, but anything I’ve ever gotten with wide lapels ends up looking funny to me after the first wear. It could just all be in my head (hence the query as to what others think), but I’d reluctant to get something like this unless it was on super duper sale (and I am not all that conservative a dresser at work generally).
I had the same thought. One would have to be quite careful to avoid looking too clownish.
I agree. I’m a young student and I still think this is too risque for work.
I normally love Nanette Lepore, but I think the banding at the bottom of this jacket gives it more of a sweatshirt look than I’d want in a jacket. It’s too casual for a normal day at work, but the satin detailing also makes it to dressy for a casual day.
When I saw this at the store (in green) I really fell for it but I would NEVER wear it for work. It doesn’t just have a sweatshirt look–it is a sweatshirt, meaning that satin detailing or not, it is not appropriate for even casual days at work (and I work in a very casual office).
That said, it is very cute and very unique (I asked my shopper if there was anything similar at a lower price point and she said that she had never seen anything like it before, and told me that it would definitely not be going on sale). If I could justify dropping $400 for a weekend-only jacket, I would definitely buy this one.

I guess I am in the minority here, but I think it’s really cute! I would probably consider buying it if it were under $200 – the wide lapels seem very “of the moment” to me and I’m sure they will be out again soon, so I wouldn’t want to spend $400 on something that I might only wear 10 times before it goes out of style for the foreseeable future.
I think it would be cute with jeans, but I’m not so sure about pairing it with more work-appropriate bottoms.
Love it! Navy is a great colour for us redheads, but my good navy suit always feels a little bit too formal for my office. This is navy but also fun.
Not remotely in my price bracket though. Sigh.
Looks like it might be cute with jeans and a white tee-shirt for the weekends. The big lapels would likely be problematic for those of us who have a medium or large bust line, though — would have to try this one on.
I’m on the fence about this one.
1) I don’t think it’s appropriate for work.
2) I think the white tee that the model is wearing detracts from what is otherwise a nice jacket.
3) I think the lapels would be too much for someone my height.
Rather off topic, but I got this coat online AND it has wide lapels which look good(I’m just 5″4). Simply had to share!
