Suit of the Week

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. For this week's suit of the week, we like the tannish color of this Anne Klein skirt suit. It's darker than beige, which in its lighter shades can be unflattering in a variety of ways, especially if you're pale — yet not as dark as brown, which isn't very summery, and can be difficult to accessorize. It's $179 at Dillards. Anne Klein Suit 2-Piece Skirted SuitSales of note for 9/5/25

Great find, like the low one-button. Anyone know how Anne Klein clothing fits?
As a fashion designer of womens business suits and one who has dressed thousands of professional women with all types of body shapes, I tend to not favor one-button jackets unless I am designing a jacket to go over a shift dress where the woman can leave the button undone or open.
I like to dress women in two or three button jackets with the first button placed so buttoned up the chest doesn’t pull open.
Looking at the picture above you can see how the chest area is pulling and if this model were to sit the neck line would fold open. Not very flattering in my opinion.
For a one button jacket to not pull, the jacket would need to have a looser fit, more like a boy friend jacket.
Mo, I think it runs a little big. I can fit into a size 5 Anne Klien suit while my other suits are anywhere from 6-10.
I meant a size 6 Anne Klein suit, sorry for the late-night typos!
Totally agree with the comments about the 1 button, very unflattering. The suit looks good on the model, though.
i prefer one-button suit jackets–they’re the most flattering on me, but then again, i don’t have much to get in the way. also, most suit jackets should be unbottoned when you sit.
Oh so very boring.
Ditto the problem with one-button jackets. They don’t work for me at all.
This color seems like it might be difficult to find a top – my instinct is that most pastels would make the tan seem muddy or have a tonal mis-match, but that darker colors wouldn’t have enough contrast. Seems to leave you with cream or white, or maybe black – eh. A little bit lighter and a dark brown, navy, or deep rose top could look great.
Aside from that, I think the jacket looks a little dated – the pockets remind me of a suede jacket I got from the Gap in the late 90s.
Fit – Anne Klein definitely runs roomy. I am usually a 4, and their 4’s are my bloat pants.
I find one button jackets to be shorter (as in hit high on the hip, as opposed to the upper thigh) and which is more feminine and more flattering on me. Makes me look less boxy, and is more slimming to me…
