For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.
This week, the tweeds are calling us — the patch pockets, the sliiiiight shape to the shoulders, the wide collar. One minor question, though: if it's cold enough to wear a tweed jacket, isn't it also cold enough for pants? Alas, apparently not here — but still, it's a very flattering skirt suit. The jacket (Classiques Entier ‘Mingled Weave' Jacket) is $268, and the skirt (Classiques Entier ‘Mingled Weave' Skirt) is $168. (Note that the jacket (Classiques Entier ‘Freckled Weave' Jacket) also comes in a multi-pink, but there is no matching skirt.)

I like it, especially the pockets (and it doesn’t hurt that they picked a curvier model to showcase it, that’s always one of my concerns).

I have this suit and love it. The detailing is very cute but it doesn’t make the suit look too trendy. It feels like it is of a higher quality than other classiques suits that I own.
Note that it is a lightweight tweed so the whole is-it-too-cold-for-a-skirt question does not apply. But if you prefer pants, they are available–or at least they were a month ago when I bought the suit.
Also, it is one of the few suits that I have been able to wear off the rack (I’m 5’2″), although I did subsequently get it tailored because the sleeves were bordering on being too long.

Nordstrom has a lot of cute suits this season and I’m glad this one comes in regular and not just petite. A lot of times I find that the petite offerings suit me a bit more than the regular size, but petite doesn’t really work for me.

SO cute — I’d really love it. I hope it goes on sale!

I get the “it’s too cold for a skirt” thing. But, I am one of those weirdos that prefer to wear skirt suits all year long. Mostly because I hate buying pants. Always have to get them tailored. So, warm skirts are appreciated. I just let my calves freeze.

You could always wear boots (classic black) with a suit like this for added warmth.

Agreed. Tights help some.

This looks like it’s going to look extra nice on a curvier woman, with the wide waistline, as well as the well-cut jacket. Got to check it out. Good choice!

I like the suit, and I love the real-sized model. It actually gives me an idea of what it would like on me, and makes me likelier to buy it (hint, hint, if anyone from the fashion world is reading).

The Freckled Weave Jacket is not the same. For one thing, the sleeves are shorter.

You’re right, G! Now, how many of us out of our 20s and 30s are going to wear the long-sleeved turtle or scoop neck underneath and poking out of the jacket’s short sleeves trend?
I really want to know…need help on this line of thought. Otherwise, so many of this season’s jackets must be passed over.

I got a slightly different Classiques Entier suit at Nordstroms this fall and have been very pleased with it. It wears lovely, and the skirt does not wrinkle when I sit. It’s great. I also have the blouse that they are showing under this suit, which I love. It goes with a million things, including brown, black, taupe, grey. Very pro the Nordstroms house line, high quality excellent value and wearable styles for curvy women.

Just tried this on at Nordy’s. It’s great. The skirt didn’t fit me well. Nordstrom has a ton of great suits this fall. I caved and bought a great classic one at full price.

The suit is nice, but what shoes is she wearing? I’m looking for a pair exactly like that, but having trouble finding the plain classic style in a brand that is comfortable and wears well. If anyone knows (or has another suggestion) please let me know!

About the shoes…..I love Cole Haan’s “Carma” see: http://www.colehaan.com/colehaan/catalog/swp.jsp?l=shop,swp,c-100+102701/searchList-carma#l=shop,swp,c-100+102701/searchList-carma
They come in a variety of heel heights and colors, and they also are really comfortable with the Nike Air technology in the soles. I’m an unemployed law student and find them to be rather expensive but well worth it. I have them in a peep toe and a closed toe :-) Hope this helps!

I was once advised by a colleague that skir tsuits are great for rainy weather or really wet snowy weather. No splashes up the back of your pants, no weird creases from tucking your pant legs into your boots. I have learned to rely on some great tights and rock the skirt suit all year long! H&M’s 100-DEN tights are perfect for winter, and I probably couldn’t make them run if I tried. (H&M only stocks them in winter, I’m told.)

Your colleague has my philosophy. I typically plan my outfit for the day based on the chance of rain and go with a skirt if it’s about 40% or higher chance. The first day of one of my summer internships I was stupid enough to wear pants and parked in a lot I later found out flooded about 6″ in the typical rainstorm- bad choice.

I also stick to skirts when the chance of rain or snow is high. If it is a serious downpour or snow storm, I’ll wear rain/snowboots to work and change into my work shoes at the office; otherwise, if it is a steady drizzle or just a chance of rain later on, I’ll plan my outfit around black patent leather shoes as they don’t show raindrops or get damaged nearly as quickly, in my experience.
