It's almost time to think about summer sunscreen, and here's a reader-favorite sun-protection solution.
This sun safety kit from Sephora offers a huge variety of products (SPF 30 to 50) for all skin types. It contains two full-size items (a lip balm and sunscreen) as well as samples from brands like Peter Thomas Roth, Dermalogica, Shiseido, Kiehl's, Supergoop!, Fenty Skin, and more. The samples range from .14 oz. to 1 oz.
This is a great opportunity to try SO MANY products and find new favorites!
Sephora's Sun Safety Kit is $39, which gets you $178 worth of products. For each purchase, the company will donate $25 to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, for a minimum of $700,000.

teen fashion question: if you have a teen girl in your life that lives in oversized sweatshirts, what size are they relative to her actual size? I’m shopping for a 5’1″ athletic/slim 12 year old and am thinking maybe an adult medium? She’d probably be a Youth Large in “sweatshirts that are not so big they hit below your butt” sizing.
Adult large on my 5-4 kiddo because she likes it to cover her bottom so she can wear leggings as pants. She wears pads when she has her period and doesn’t want that to feel so obvious. She is otherwise tiny (womens size 2 if that).
I agree with this. We ended up with an adult large in a Taylor sweatshirt that was selling out and 12 yr old who is 5’4″ and size 2 has decided adult large is the perfect size for sweatshirts.
Lol. Kids are funny
In 1985 I bought all my sweaters in XL, as a 5′ 3″ size 4. And the styles were already oversized. It’s funny to see it come back.
Shoutout to the Hanes men’s XXXL tee shirts we wore in the late 80s!
As a slender thirteen y.o. in 1987, I thought Lane Bryant carried my size.
It depends on how oversized the sweatshirt runs. For “classic” fit hoodies my slim 5’3″ 17-year-old daughter likes an adult M for a nice slouchy fit. At age 12 she was wearing adult S. If the sweatshirt is made to be oversized, you’ll be better off with a S or in some cases even an XS. If you go too big the armholes will be so gigantic that her elbows will get caught in them. It’s easiest to look at actual garment dimensions, as sizing varies even within the same manufacturer. I have an Anine Bing sweatshirt in size XS that is absolutely gigantic on my size 2 5’6″ self, and it’s much bigger than another style from the same brand in size S.
I’d go with a medium for an oversized look.
Thank you Princess Diana. I have a Gen X daughter and she says the look of oversized sweatshirt + bike shorts + white reeboks with white socks is trending due to old pics of the Princess.
I’d go Adult L or XL for sure. My daughter is tall and it would be XL for her.
She bought an Adult XL sweatshirt when we were on vacation ages ago & she was in middle school, and she wore that until the cuffs were threadbare. Honestly, the bigger the better, because she shot up about 8″ during the era she wore the sweatshirt.
my 12 year old niece is tall and slim, a size 00 at AE. My husband got her a size unisex adult small Travis Kelce jersey for her birthday (right before the Super Bowl – she knows to ask her uncle for random stuff like that) and I was pretty concerned that it was going to be un-cool big, and she loved it. It looked gigantic to my eye but in line with what the kids are wearing.
Okay though to your actual question – My best friends daughter is a smaller 12 year old (probably 000 at AE) and she steals my best friends size large Glidden crewneck. so you are probably right with adult medium or large is on track.
I’m trying to accessorize this dress for a Beverly Hills Hotel gala. How would you do your hair and what shoes and earrings would you recommend? We don’t have a specific decade but I think it’s supposed to be kind of old Hollywood.
I would do strappy metallic sandals as shown (probably would do block heel for comfort), and long dangly earrings.
I’d do something like this (maybe this isn’t the right green) because platform sandals are very 1940s.

If you want to be really vintage, do your hair in side rolls (google 1940s side roll hair) and wear clip on rhinestone earrings from a thrift / vintage store. That’s what I’d do.
Those are fab!!
I’m in jail for a link –
Circus NY by Sam Edelman style platform sandals
vintage rhinestone earrings and do your hair like Hedy Lamarr or in side rolls.

I have my eye on a dress of theirs. Has anyone had experience with them? Quality, sizing? Thanks!
Are knee-high boots still a thing if the weather is rainy? If not, what are you supposed to wear with a dress?
I’m still wearing my knee high Aquitalias in the rain.
I still wear boots wih dresses in bad weather. I hate cold, wet feet.
I’m wearing a skirt and knees high leather boots today in rainy NYC.
What color and material? I couldn’t do black suede in the spring but need something visually lighter to wear now.
I have slouchy suede weather proof Blondo boots for this weather. The work best with midi length dresses though
I actually think one of the best footwear choices with midi or maxi dresses is knee high boots.
I still wear boots wih dresses in bad weather. I hate cold, wet feet.
From this morning, I think that a belted shirt dress is what we are wearing now that replaced the wrap dress. For me (pear), it means that my top doesn’t unwrap on me. I have one 2019 DVF Prita one in a 4-color abstract print and I can always mix it up with pieces and accessories that echo a color in the dress. Where are there more of these in a higher-quality fabric that isn’t ruffled or tiered in the skirt area?
In a shirtdress, I look like Mary Cooper from Young Sheldon. Too bad, because I think they are so cute and work better for my body type than a wrap ever has.
+1 I really like a belted shirt dress. Much much more than the wrap dresses that I never really felt secure in.
Lafayette 148 usually has good ones that are appropriate for work, and their cuts are pear friendly.
where would you go for a 15th anniversary celebration, and how many days would you go? i love cities but i feel like those aren’t good “connecting with others” trips.
this is an incredibly vague request. maybe provide some information (how many days, where are you starting from, what do you guys like to do)
And yet, a bunch of people knew what she meant and responded.
Key West and stay in a Tiki Suite. We loved our two nights on Tiki Suite Key West.
to each their own- I think cities are great for connecting bc you have all the new stuff you did to talk about, funny observations as you sit and people-watch, etc. For our 15th we did a week in Paris and had a ball!
DH & I love beach getaways for trips without our kids, and that’s what we normally do for milestone anniversaries. I think a city can work if you don’t overschedule. Think cafe-hopping and picnics in Paris, rather than trying to see every museum. Same with nature getaways… I think a long weekend at a posh spa hotel in the mountains would be super romantic, but don’t do what we did on a recent trip to Iceland and plan active excursions every day. We were physically exhausted and sore (and in my case, badly bruised from a fall on a glacier trek)…not very conducive to romance, lol.
As for how long to go, I think this is dependent on your personalities I get a lot, and find diminishing returns after about day 5 of a trip so for beach getaways we often go for only 4-6 days. For Europe we normally go 7-9 days just because it’s more of a pain to get there.
Hawaii, specifically Maui, for up to a week. We went for our Honeymoon and meant to go back for our 10th, but kids and Covid got in the way. It’s the perfect mix of relaxing and active options, with amazing food
We went to Iceland for this but sadly I think it’s not as widely accessible now bc of the earthquakes. Worth looking into though!
This is incredibly dependent on budget, work, and kids.
That said, I think it’s fun to go somewhere different: somewhere neither of you have been that is also a change from your area. If you’re in NYC and normally vacation in the beach or in Europe, go hiking in Yellowstone. A big city might be fun, but you probably have a big city groove already. You don’t have a Yellowstone groove. If you normally do road trip vacations to smaller areas but can swing a big trip, hit Paris. You definitely don’t have a Paris rhythm.
It would depend on how many days I have. For a weekend trip, I prefer to stay somewhere luxurious and relaxing either in our own city or within a couple hours’ drive. I’ve learned that I feel less rested and less s*xy if there’s a lot of hassle to get to our destination, and then I’m also exhausted the entire next week.
With a week and sufficient budget, I’d probably choose a city, or a city for 4-5 days + 2 days in the country. DH and I have only spent 1 day in Paris together, and we were both sick and miserable, so maybe Paris. Or Barcelona.
I’m a big fan of the city + countryside combo and we’ve done several 1 week trips to Europe like that (Rome + Amalfi, Barcelona + Mallorca, etc.)
In the Caribbean I love St. Lucia, St. Martin and the Virgin Islands for beach trips that aren’t 100% beach.
I love Hawaii too but it’s a haul for us east coasters.
If you’re the sort of people who like that sort of thing, maybe a cruise? And splurge on a suite?
I love exploring cities, but for romantic trips without our children, my husband and I both like either beach or mountains. We have rented a beach cottage on the pier and have also rented mountain cabins.
If you have a very flexible budget, Hermitage Bay in Antigua. Insanely expensive but one of the most relaxing and romantic places I’ve ever been.
In your shoes, I would be looking to places like Big Sur for 4 days.
Blackberry Farm for 4d/3n, no question.
Does anyone have a Naghedi bag? They seem popular among influencers but I don’t think I’ve seen any in the wild of my boring Midwestern city. I’m always looking for relatively easy and lightweight options so considering getting one.
I really want one but I hate that they don’t have a physical store. I’m in NYC and I’m spoiled by expecting to go to a store and see something before I buy it.
I have one and like it, but don’t love it. I would probably buy the Amazon version if I had to do again. They aren’t leather or anything, so it’s a good one to buy a knock-off of.

I really messed up at work. Turns out a high demand job plus being in my 3rd trimester was a bad combination for me and I just couldn’t keep up anymore. I’m just waiting for them to tell me I’m done – and I do not have the first idea how to tell my husband. I don’t know if this can be salvaged…
Sending hugs from an internet stranger and fellow mom who drops work balls more than I’m comfortable admitting
It is late so post again tomorrow? Wanted to send you hugs! If you really did mess up, then take ownership and come up with an action plan to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We are all human – everyone messes up! Whenever someone else messes up at work, I am always sympathetic and try to work with them because I know how it feels to be in their shoes. Good luck and report back! Keep your head up too.
Sending you hugs, you have a lot going on so give yourself some grace if you can.
An employer would be begging for a lawsuit to fire someone in their third trimester, so it’s probably not actually dire. And mistakes happen, it’s how you handle them that matters.
