Tuesday’s TPS Report: Diane von Furstenberg Julian Wrap Dress

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

11Saks has started a three-day Friends and Family event, where you can get a discount of up to 25% on almost all of the merchandise — which means it’s a great time to check out some of those items that never go on sale (or if they do, only have lucky sizes and weird prints left over). For example: The DvF wrap dress. Some hate it, some love it, some say the key is to wear it backwards. Either way, it is a classic, and a very recognizable designer addition to your wardrobe because of her recognizable prints and thick silk fabric. Normally $325, with the discount (code SFAFAM9) it comes to $243. Not bad — not bad at all. Diane von Furstenberg – Julian Wrap Dress

Splurge Monday’s TPS Report: Tory Burch’s Slim Calf Leather Tote

50Green is a surprisingly versatile color — perfect in the springtime when worn with cool colors like gray and white, and perfect in the fall when worn with warmer colors like brown and cream (and it always looks great with black and navy). Despite this, green is a hard color to wear in a coat or sweater unless your skin tone is just so; it also tends to be a bit unflattering as a shoe color. But a green bag? Perfect. This one is particularly nice — it’s got a zippered pocket on the inside as well as two open pockets; we also like the printed inside lining. (We would probably detach the longer strap.) Available at Saks.com for $535. Tory Burch – Slim Calf Leather Tote

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend.

Lafayette 148 New York Dotted Patio BlouseSaks has started its spring sales already, including this lovely blouse from Lafayette 148.  We would wear it with a pencil skirt and pumps, or perhaps beneath a suit — we like the idea of the tall collar standing up beneath lapels.  It is linen, which (while prone to wrinkles) can be great when it’s 90 degrees and you’re at a professional event.  It’s on sale for $136, down from $228.
