Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We're liking this preppy sweater from J.Crew — we'd wear it with a gray trouser, white blouse, and some bold, luxe jewelry — perhaps a set of pearls as well as a gold cuff (worn on top of the sweater sleeve, of course). It's $88 at JCrew.com. Piped-and-twisted pocket cardigan (L-0)Sales of note for 10.24.24

Hijack: Kat, love the necklace you wore with the coral AK jacket. Where did you get it? :-) Good luck at your conference!! Go Cardinals!

I really like this sweater and I think it’s super cute! But I have the same question about the cuff. Are you really supposed to wear it over the sweater? That seems strange to me. I would reserve cuffs for short or 3/4 sleeves, but would maybe wear a fun chunky gold bracelet with this.
Law-Less
Oops, that was supposed to be posted after bluebooks comment!
Cat
I would wear a bracelet placed where the model’s is — a chunky silver or gold chain sounds right. I’m not a cuff fan personally (or of any non-flexible bracelet — I always end up with a welt in my wrist if I try to wear them at work!)
Hm, cuff over sweater. I would definitely look twice at someone with that look (not that it wouldn’t be work appropriate, just that — I guess I would push up the sleeves a little rather than wear it over the sleeve).
Shayna
Putting a bracelet over the sleeve (of any cardigan) is something my grandmother would do… it just screams of old, dowdy and frump – which is NOT what I’m after!
2L NYC
Like everything except for pearls over the sweater
jcb
I totally wear a gorgeous silver or gold cuff over a long sleeve sometimes. I think it’s kind of glam and fun.
AIMS
I agree. I think the trick is for the sleeves to be a bit on the longer, tightly slouchy side (if that makes sense).
bluebook
I like it but would have to see it in person. Though I don’t get the cuff-over-sweater comment, is that really what you’re supposed to do?
BTW – the twitter link to the current 6pm sale is not working….
Glamour
Perfect for summer… hot outside and AC in the office… great to throw on!

I wish there were a way to bar spammers like Glamour above from posting here.

me too!
LegallyBlonde
Yep.
CTX
Agreed. I wouldn’t mind the constant comments (with the included link) if Glamour actually said something more substantial than the equivalent of “Ooooh, pretty!” on every post.
CMF
The worst is when they do “What do you think girls? xoxo”
EM
Tactful how the comments to the sponsor’s post was disabled. However, AK (or any other women’s clothing manufacturer), if you are listening, suits should be wool, not polyester! Also, we really need short sleeve scoop neck silk shells to wear under jackets. You know, really elegant tee shirts. Like Armani’s, but for less than $400 apiece.
CMF
Just fyi I got this at one of Ann Taylors 30% sales in the seahorse color and really like it

ooh I got that too!! Nice, isn’t it? And I like the back-zipper, that means I can actually make the non-stretchy fabric fit me
CMF
Yeah I really like it because I can actually take my jacket off if I need to. I’m thinking about getting the pewter color to if it goes on sale.
MJ
EM–I disagree. I am allergic to wool. Things have to be COMPLETELY lined or I am a mess. Or I have to wear a button down or turtleneck so there is no suit/skin contact….To each her own.
Shayna
Agree! A few seconds contact with a wool blend is enough to break my skin out into an angry red rash of itchiness :-(
Houda
Amen!
MelD
Maybe I’m alone in this, but I have no desire to wear a lined wool suit when it is 90+ degrees out. I’d much rather be wearing one layer of a synthetic than a wool layer lined by a synthetic layer because the former is going to be cooler. Trust me when I say that wool on bare skin in 90+ degrees is ridiculously uncomfortable.
(almost) 3L
Love this. I’d probably wear it every day.
Shayna
I love cardigans – they fold up nicely in my purse for the freezing air conditiong all summer, but the piping on this one (and the weird bracelet-over-top suggestion) is just too frumpy/old lady for me! Also, $88 strikes me as more than this cardigan is worth since it its shapeless, and likely to only accentuate my hips with its long length… and my hips need no help in that area!
I like this one from Macy’s (on sale for $40) http://tinyurl.com/32punwt
jcb
I like this, but agreed that if you have hips (like me), this length of cardigan is not your friend. Makes you look like an actual pear. Belted would help that, but who wants to deal with a belted cardigan when it’s warm out?
Shayna
Agree — The beauty of a summer cardigan is that it’s easy to throw on and off as you zip between air conditioned offices and in and out of hot cars… Also, I like to fold up my cardigan into my purse, which means that the added bulk of a belt is not welcome!
Clerky
This is cute, like the color and the white piping.
Off topic question — as summer approaches, my feet are getting ridiculously sweaty and it’s really embarrassing. My shoes are all disgusting as a result, even when I wear hose. I have used Drysol and it’s not really helping. I have heard that Botox is painful on one’s feet. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I have also looked into those footsies that go over one’s foot to serve as a shield between the shoe and the foot, but the problem is that the footsie cloth clearly shows, which isn’t flattering at all. Are there footsies out there where the cloth doesn’t hang over the front part of the foot?
anon2
Yes! Someone recommended these awhile back on Corporette, and as a result I bought them and am so happy!
The brand is HUE and you should get the low-rise liners:
http://www.barenecessities.com/HUE-Cool-Contours-Low-Cut-Foot-Liner_product_HUE10238_,search,.htm
They are truly low-cut and barely if at all show up. I get black to match my shoes, and I think it looks good, no one can tell that I’m wearing socks, and it makes my shoes fit better (no blisters!) and last longer (no sweat).
K
Check out summer soles. They are made specifically for people with hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating). They’re adhesive inserts that go in your shoes, and they are AMAZING. I have always had super sweaty feet, to the point of having puddles in my shoes (TMI, I’m sorry). As a result my feet would slide around in my shoes and cause cuts, blisters, you name it. But these little creations are fabulous. They soak up the sweat and keep my feet in place in my shoes. I haven’t tried the ultra-absorbant, but I have the suede ones, and let me repeat: they are incredible. I put them in all my shoes that I wear barefoot – flats, peep-toes, closed toed. I highly, highly recommend.

I have no idea if this works but the salon I go to does special pedicures in the summer that they claim really reduces odor & sweating. It might be worth a shot.
Also, I personally find that a talc cream deodarnt really works wonders (whether for feet or not). The best — though hard to find in the US — is lancome’s bocage cream. You put it on same as a foot cream, and it keeps your feet dry & cool all day.
I usually stock up when traveling, but this website appears to sell it, if you’re interested. I think it’s worth a try before you really consider botox.

Thank you so much! I will probably buy the summer soles and the Hue liners and see which (or both) work for me. I’m really excited about these options!
Delta Sierra
Mitchum gel anti-perspirant lightly slathered on my feet helps. It does take a moment to dry, so go lightly and give yourself time for it to do so.
MelD
I have the summer soles and agree that they are fantastic. I recommend them for all your shoes because they really do seem to keep me from getting blisters at the bottom of my feet from the slipping around/rubbing that happens otherwise. I often find that when I use the liners, they make my shoes too tight in certain areas.
K
Clerky – if you order them by tomorrow, you can enter the coupon code MAY10 for free shipping. I’m on their mailing list. :)
Eva
I just bought 5 pairs (I hope it wasn’t a one-time code… doesn’t look like it) with your code. Thanks! I hope I like them!!
I think this may have been my very first Corporette impulse purchase! I love looking at all the clothes, but amazingly, I haven’t been inspired to pull out my credit card even once before tonight.
Clerky
Thanks K! I went ahead and bought them yesterday, but I found a 20% coupon code online that worked. I really appreciate the suggestion and can’t wait to try them. So tired of stinky feet and stinky shoes!
same problem
Go to the Podiatrist; I had this same problem and the good Dr. prescribed a dedorant with a little bit (maybe 10%) Formaldehyde and told me to use it for 3 months. I ended up using it for 1 month and the problem hasn’t returned since and it’s been 2 yrs. now. You just roll it on your feet and let it dry. It worked for me.
Talbots dress
This matte jersey belted dress was featured on here a few weeks ago and it looks like a lot of people bought it. Any feedback on the dress? Is it tailored or more boxy like most Talbots clothing?

I didn’t get it, but I sent the link to a friend who was out shopping – she said it was not good on, looked weird. Probably the front pleating is to blame.
Anonymous
I did, but I exchanged it and am waiting delivery of the next size down.
The color is gorgeous, but the dress just hangs straight down from the neck pleating – absolutely no waist or tailoring at all. With the belt I think it will be okay, but I wanted to try the smaller size to see if it comes closer to the shape of my body. I liked the look of the neckline though.
I think the material will be comfortable, although I might get a slip to wear with it as others suggested.
Talbots dress
Thanks for the feedback. This is exactly what I feared — boxy fit with no tailoring.
Delta Sierra
My large-bosomed friend tried it on and found the front extremely not flattering.
katelyn
I like it, but it’s very similar to my favorite thomas pink sweater which I like better (http://www.thomaspink.com/fcp/product/thomas%20pink/knitwear_w/Women's-Nautical-Cardigan/99901908)
a.
oooh… i love that.
RoadWarriorette
I really like this–just enough prep without taking it too far. I also love cardigans, and have many. Always looking for a new one to add to the collection though!! :)
