Sorry… I can’t stand the color or the shine factor. It looks too cheap and too casual, imho.
I agree that it looks too cheap and casual, especially with the shine and the braid.
Sorry to diss a well-cut bag that comes in nine colors, but yes, it does look a little cheap to me. I am glad to hear that it has a nice print lining, the first really good bag I ever bought had a beautiful pale floral lining. Key word: PALE! This is a pet peeve of mine – black linings, because they make it impossible to find anything. I’ve sometimes taken fabric paint and painted a lining white. Sure it looks grubby quickly, but I’m the only one who sees inside there, and now I can find stuff. A lot of Corporette is about help in avoiding being seen in a bad light out there in the world, and I hate being That Person rooting around in their (not that huge) bag, unable to find whatever, grubble grubble while I look and people wait, feh.
I don’t like it either – looks like denim to me.
agree that it looks to cheap to be professional.
I mean “too” cheap, sorry for the typo
One more vote for cheap and unprofessional. It looks trendy, maybe appropriate for a teenager on the weekend.
Agreed. Not professional: not a helpful suggestion.
Ditto SM. I was going to say that it looks like a teenager’s bag.
The comments about it looking cheap are well taken, but I love that it’s so light (1 lb versus 3 or more lbs for many bags that can hold papers) and that it’s vertical rather than horizontal. The vertical orientation is very nice if you commute by subway or other crowded means.
I would not bring it to a meeting, but I might carry it to and from work on days when I am bringing papers home to read or use on calls, and don’t have any meetings scheduled. On those days I usually wear business casual and don’t think an informal bag (which would only be seen in the elevator) would be a problem. I don’t agree that it was an unhelpful suggestion, even if some of us wouldn’t use it.
