  1. This section from the article on French Moms really struck a chord with me.

“We resign ourselves to these big pressures, and focus on the small stuff we feel we can control: the most effective Lego organizers, the best baby food makers, the toddler soccer teams. But it’s the ability to go to work and know your child is safe, and that you can afford that care and even look forward to a real vacation, that’s mind-bendingly life-changing.”

    1. I definitely get where you’re coming from, but I found this article to be a little tone-deaf. How many moms do you know who would have a pearl-clutching heart attack if they found out their kid(s) had been served veal at day care? I absolutely agree there is a lot to be done to improve the expectations/burden of parenting in this country, but simply copying France is culturally maladroit and not likely to provide real peace of mind for American working parents.

  2. Can anyone help me find a dress for my cousin’s wedding? She just asked me to be a bridesmaid. The wedding is one month away and on the opposite side of the world (so Rent the Runway is out because there is no way I’ll be able to return it in time). The dress must be floor-length, chiffon-style, either green or coral, in size 0P. Ideal price range is around $200 though I would happily spend less. Is that even possible? I think some of you are really good at obscure shopping requests–please work your magic!

    1. Off the rack at David’s Bridal? I was pleasantly surprised with their options the last time I was a bridesmaid. Was going to suggest J Crew bridal as they had tons of chiffon style bridesmaid dresses, but looks like they are no more?

      1. They got rid of their bridal over the winter. (I snagged my dress for $240 during the clearance though!)
