The McSweeney’s cures for insomnia public school lottery/Tinder!!!! Love it! (I’m a NYC public school parent…)
I love the NPR transcript with Ali Rosen. I think what she said about us making life decisions in our 20’s for our 30’s is so on point, even tho men bash me for doing so. Here is what I go +1 for!:
“And I think that women think that if they start thinking about that in their mid-20s, it’s too early, when really it’s not ever too early to start considering what you want out of your career and out of your entire life. Where do you want to live? How much money do you want to make? What kind of job do you want to have? I mean, those are things that you have to plan for. And obviously, you can’t control everything, and you can’t definitely have children and find a great mate if you want to. But you can work towards something.”
That is me. I was working toward grabbing a decent guy, marrying him, having a baby or 2 and moving to Chapaqua. What is so non-liberating about all of that? She says we should so why don’t we? We, in the HIVE, simply cant be passive. You have to grab the men by their you know what’s, get preganant by their sperm, and then we can prepare retire to a life of leisure in the suburbs. YAY!!!
I was sad to read about the obituary of Ms. Murray, the roller derby queen from the 1950s. She was a woman we should all look up to, as she was so far ahead of her time. Moreover, she got married and had a son, so there is hope for all of us looking to find men! YAY!!!
