That one’s not really a joke! We still save for retirement but I can’t bring myself to care that much about it or save crazy aggressively because who knows what the h*ll the world is going to look like in 30 years.

‘Dad Sure to Let You Know Race of Every Person in Story He’s Telling’ unfortunately was too close to reality for me. I failed to find it funny. FIL doesn’t always mention race or nationality when retelling random encounters with strangers or neighbors, sometimes he sprinkles in ‘probably gay’ or ‘a little bit chubby’ for variety. But always, always some othering attribute. And if you call him on it, it’s of course not meant in any negative sense.

My in-laws are the same way. I have called it out to my husband who does it (much less frequently) and he has stopped.
But my in-laws! Does it matter that the kid your daughter borrowed a book from 30+ years ago was Asian? No. It does not.
