  1. PSA for the slow cooker fans – our local Williams Sonoma had a significant (50%+) discount on All Clad slow cookers in store today.

  2. Seeking Winter Coat :

I need advice for a winter coat to wear over suits. I practice in upstate NY where 10 deg F winter days are very common. Any advice re Jcrew thinsulate lined coats or other recommendations?

    • DC Darling :

Spent last winter in Chicago and the northface arctic parka saved my life and, bonus, is actually really flattering.

    • Jcrew will not cut it. Get a down/primaloft parka – North Face, Lands End, LL Bean, Eddie Bauer – whatever floats your boat. Make sure it covers your butt – and preferably goes down to your knees. It should have a hood, and cuffs at the wrists and a collar that snugs up to your face/neck to keep the wind from sneaking in.

      • Seeking Winter Coat :

Thanks. Replacing a knee length patagonia down coat that I’ve had 9 years, still very warm but I’m ready for something different which is why I wondered about the wool Jcrew coats with thinsulate. Good to know they aren’t warm enough.

        • The issue with the jcrew coats (that I’ve heard) is that while there is thinsulate in the body, there isn’t any in the sleeves.
