Thursday’s TPS Report: Ann Taylor Ponte Knit Contrast Trim Jacket

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. We begin the week in splurge mode, with our most expensive suggestions, and wind our way to Friday, where a less expensive item of clothing might be just what you need to make it to the weekend. We love this great navy jacket with a preppy contrast trim — and with the ponte knit, this will fit and feel a bit more like a sweater. Ann Taylor has a variety of matching navy pieces (pants, skirt) but otherwise, we'd recommend wearing this with a gray, purple, or white sheath dress or trousers. It's on sale for $69 (was $150). I saw that last weekend! Don’t love the navy, so I passed, but had they had it in another color combo I would have bought it on the spot – great price and fits well.
This would be the perfect thing to wear to your next PTA meeting.

I got no solution here, but I do want to have a little whine: on the one hand, men look exactly the same every day and no one cares, so why should we women burst a blood vessel over our clothes? On the other hand, fiddling with your clothes and your look is fun, so long as we don’t drive ourselves nuts over it. Hm, maybe that’s the solution, not to go nuts over it. Give yourself a mental safety zone defined by “if I’m wondering if it’s a little too (whatever) for work, it is, so save it for the weekend”. So we don’t spend all day at work having second thoughts and tugging our neckline up and our skirt down?
I realize that it’s June, but I found this at my local Ann Taylor last Tuesday where it was (gasp) $34.88, and the pants and matching skirt were also (super gasp) $9.88 apiece on final sale. Definitely hit the Ann Taylor up this weekend if you haven’t already.
And then of course, I bring it home, triumphant, and my boyfriend says, “What, are you a sailor now?” Deflated already! But the skirt is oh-so-comfortable.
