Brooks Brothers has started their Veterans Day Sale early and is offering up to 70% off prices through November 11 — exclusively online.
Their higher end line, Black Fleece is also marked up to 50% off, and there are some great deals to be had in the contemporary/fun line, Red Fleece (lots below $50). There are a ton of great buys, so I thought I'd make a few notes:
Non-iron shirts — tons for $39 — the one above, Non-Iron Tailored Fit Thin Wide Stripe Dress Shirt, was $98.50, now $39.40
Handbags — oh, the handbags are pretty and the prices are good (lots marked $500+ down to below $200). Below: the Quilted Calfskin Barrel Bag (available in red and grey), was $598, now $179.
Basics — lots of nice basics, such as this wool/silk pencil skirt below: Wool and Silk Pencil Skirt, was $248, now $99.20., sizes 6-16 still left.
Sweaters — I've seen better prices on their cashmere, to be honest, but their merino wool still looks like a great buy — I love the braided details and the buttons on the one below, Braided Neckline Merino Wool Sweater, was $148 now $59, available in khaki, blue, pink, and deep orchid
Shoes — BB shoes are reader favorites (see more in our Guide to Comfortable Heels) and there are a ton of cute heels on sale for under $100. Below: the Captoe Pumps (available in black and grey) were $268, but are now marked to $80.40. (I'm really tempted by the $400 boots now marked to $120. Hmmn…)
There are also a few great pieces in the suiting sale — this beige birdseye suit is now 60% off.

Yay! Thanks Kat for p’osting this! I have been looking at this calfskin bucket bag for quite some time but always found it to be to expensive! Now I can buy it and not have to listen to dad compleaining about me buying to many satchel’s! Now that I am a partner, I need more satchel’s and bucket bag’s! YAY!!!

I’ve been loving Red Fleece – JCrew prices but much better quality.
PSA on the Braided Neckline Merino Wool Sweater – although it looks lovely in the pictures, there’s a reason it’s on major markdown. The lighter colors are too sheer (reveals pattern of a blouse underneath, and also reveals a nude bra), but the darker colors are very bright/saturated and the detailed, feminine trim (which looks very pretty in the lighter colors) suddenly looks bold and heavy, like having a string of grapes tacked on the sweater.

Thanks for the head’s-up — now I can resist the temptation I was feeling to buy a couple!

I don’t know what it is about BB, but there clothes always seem to be photographed so dreadfully (shoe choices, stance of model, etc.). I can not bring myself to pull the trigger. I used to think I’d grow up and wear very beautiful BB clothes once I was working, but the whole thing just seems so meh.
[And I can’t quite figure out the cut or what sort of body type they’re cut for. I want to like them so badly.]

@Anon, LOL. I have the same issue sometimes. The models look quite unhappy. Last Christmas I tried on some Brooks Brothers women’s non-iron pants, and let’s just say I will not be stepping into those again for at least a decade (currently mid-30s). Their clothing silhouettes do tend to skew older. However, for me their blouses are the best fit and quality for my current Corporate job, because they are not too tight, and actually fit my frame. I would probably not have tried one but I was out shopping with my mother-in-law, who wanted to get me professional clothes for work, and we ended up at a Brooks Brothers Outlet. I also have a button down 2 sizes larger than I usually get that I wear untucked over cropped pants, which can take away some of the “stuffiness” of the top.

I’m really tempted by a couple pairs of shoes and a couple of the handbags. But paying for shipping is against my rules…

I did way too much damage with this sale yesterday.
Got a cashmere wrap (I have another color already but could not pass up – makes winter so much better); the green croc oxford pumps (featured here before, I think), a herringbone blazer, some purple pants… Trouble. And they had such nice silk blouses that I removed from my cart….
KateMiddletown
any thoughts on how the button-downs fit on large busts?
Annie
Thanks for the heads up! I was able to stock up on 2 of the 3/4 sleeved tops, love the non-iron feature (it actually is non-iron, unlike some other brands…)
@KateMiddletown, I am a 34D, and love Brooks Brothers button downs (size 2) On me, the fit is flattering, not too tight, and best of all, no gaping at the bust. Not sure if this helps.
