    1. HYPERCOLOR!!!!!! Um, am I the only one who misses my hypercolor shirt? My college roommate’s still worked many too many years later. She wore it on some random occasions around college and got universal approbation for the retro-cool factor (not to mention having never destroyed in the dryer like the rest of us). Seriously, she could wear it to bars and get hit on — in a T-shirt!

      1. Haha, my friend did this recently. Ratty purple crew neck, and the ladies could not keep their hands off him.

        1. PS: I love this umbrella! I almost got it about a year ago, actually, but didn’t b/c (1) I was disappointed that the splotches are pre-determined and that the umbrella doesn’t just change color when raindrops hit it as I had imagined (someone should totally invent that!), and (2) my other MOMA umbrella broke and I wanted something a bit more windproof.

          1. Oh! That’s what I was envisioning it did. That would be much, much better. Disappointed. :(

      2. My 17 year old brother bought a Hypercolour-style (different brand) shirt last year, and thought it was awesome. It didn’t take long for it to accidentally end up in the dryer, though.

  1. I actually like the colour changing idea, but I think the “paint splatters” would look more like “bird splatters” when white. The little pigeon figure doesn’t help that.

  2. Threadjack:
Is anyone willing to admit to trying Pajama Jeans? Every time I see their ads on a website, I want to try them; I want them to look awesome and be comfortable because I’m lazy and love to wear my p.j.s (don’t worry, I don’t wear my p.j.s out of the house anymore). But I’m very skeptical that they actually look decent. Has anyone bought them?

    1. I’d just buy jeans with a lot of stretch in them – that’s basically the same thing, I think. I like gap jeggings – they look just like skinny jeans but are more comfortable.

      1. agree, I just got some Calvin Klein jeggings and they look just like skinny jeans on but are incredibly comfortable, I feel like I’m getting away with something wearing them (with a longer top and cardigan over, of course, no tucking anything in! But I will say the waistband looks pretty normal and not all elastic-y.

    2. I second the jeggings – I live in the ones I bought from BR about a year ago.

    3. Coldwater Creek also makes knit jeans that I like, they don’t look like knit material at all, imo, and they are very comfortable. But, I’m older (50), someone in their 20s would probably not like them.

      1. One of my very style-conscious friends broke down and bought a pair for transcontinental flights, and she loves them. She says they’re comfortable and decent-looking enough to be seen in public.

    4. I’m willing to admit to wanting to try them. Badly. But I can’t bring myself to actually take the plunge because I just KNOW they will be horrible in fact.

      1. Me too! I was embarrassed to admit I got a Snuggie, but at least no one sees that in public. I similarly fear, yet am strangely enticed by, Pajama Jeans.

        1. Embrace the Snuggie!

I want an office-appropriate lower half Snuggie for days when it is FREEZING in my office.

          1. Someone needs to invent an office-appropriate snuggie – like with a cute sweater vest and collar on top or something. My office is freezing to the point where I sometimes wear a puffy down coat while I’m working.

        2. You’re not alone! I went with the Slanket and I love it. Way too much. Honestly, it keeps me so much warmer than a regular blanket.

I feel like the Pajama Jeans have potential to be my early-morning walk-the-dog pants.

          1. I have walking-the-dog pants too, only mine are gardening pants. Except I admit I wore them to the grocery store yesterday.

          2. I love my Slanket with a passion and have tried to proselytize for them. So much better than a Snuggie, frankly (and, yes, I did the research). So basically, I *am* the pajama jean market.

          3. Slanket Power! I love my slanket. Love it. DH mocked me at first, but then he got jealous so I got one for him. There is no comparison to a snuggie. Slanket haters just don’t know what they’re missing.

    5. I’m half asleep and read this as “Pajama Jesus.” Oh, how I laughed.

      Off to get coffee…

    6. I am intrigued by pajama jeans but would reserve them for those weekend runs to the grocery store when I realize I’m out of coffee creamer.

  3. Saying thanks to all on the morning thread who answered my Q re French manicures at home. Sounds like it isn’t any easier than I had thought.

    1. I’m a clear nail polish, short nail kind of girl. The Asian nail place files my nails, I put the polish on at home.

  4. Threadjack, but I need some help please. I’m buying new black leather pumps, and the 8 is just a little too small, and the 8.5 is just a little too big. I bought them both from Zappos, but am undecided which I should keep.

Is it easier to stretch a pair of small shoes or shrink a pair of large ones?

    1. It is easiest to keep shopping and try different brands until you find ones that actually fit :) For “fun” shoes I’d suggest heel or ball of foot pads in the larger ones, but for everyday black pumps, they really just need to fit

    2. I agree with Anne Shirley unless the pumps are of very soft leather. I have a pair of Stuart Weitzman kitten heels that stretched out almost half a size.

    3. Are they leather (not patent leather) pumps? If so, the small ones will stretch a bit; take them to a cobbler. Large shoes can’t be shrunk.

      1. Keep the smaller ones. Buy a shoe stretching spray, spray it on and walk until the shoes dry (you can do this at home while you do housework or something). Repeat until they’re comfortable.

        1. Also – if they’re a really cheap brand, just return both and look for a style that actually fits. Better brands will stretch.

    4. Thanks all. They are Naturalizer pumps, real leather. And they’re already 8W and 8.5W, respectively. I’m going to stick with the 8. I’ve been wearing them around the house off and on for the last evening and afternoon, and I can already tell that they’re stretching to fit my foot perfectly.
      Thanks for the advice.

I always giggle when people say try on different brands. I’ve never found a single shoe to be comfortable in my life, not even sneakers. I think I’m born to be barefoot!

  5. This umbrella is so whimiscal and cool! Who knew that something like this was even out there? What a fun way to make a rainy workday more enjoyable!

  6. I bought one of these umbrellas and sadly, the design started chipping off after the first use (it’s a layer of white paint over the color, and the white paint turns clear when wet, revealing the color).
