Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. Boss is one of my favorite brands for beautifully-tailored work dresses. This two-tone blue dress in a classic cut really caught my eye. The split-neck is flattering, but not too revealing, and the color-blocking creates a really nice silhouette. (Also, this color palette reminds me of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s outfit in Can’t Hardly Wait, which I saw dozens of times in the late nineties and can’t stop myself from watching when it’s on TV.) The colors are a bit spring-y, but I would bring this dress into fall by wearing it with a black blazer. If you’re interested, there’s also a matching crop jacket. The dress is $495 and available in sizes 0–18. It also comes in red and black/white. Daedalus Sheath Dress Two more affordable options are from Maggy London and Ming Wang; and for plus sizes, from Talbots (also available in other size ranges) and Calvin Klein. I might post this in the afternoon thread if I’m too late here…
It’s time for assistant evaluations. My assistant is amazing and I want to give her a fabulous review… but my brain is 100% fried. All I can come up with is – she’s an incredible asset and I am very lucky to work with her. Her proofreading skills are top notch. Help me come up with more nice things to say?

Try to think of one or two specific examples of times where she went above and beyond.

Comment on her professionalism and punctuality and her ability to handle complex files. Like “Susie is an efficient and highly organized assistant. She is able to balance work on complex matters with ensure that routine office procedures such as billing and account receivable and appropriate actioned.”
Basically come up with a list of adjective to describe the quality of work she does and specific tasks/examples where she has particularly excelled.

Make a list of her standout traits. Like, the truly rare ones that are valuable for your practice. For mine, in addition to the usual (professional, good attitude, organized, good at details)–she is a self -starter with excellent judgment and problem solving skills, she’s forward thinking and anticipates my/the client/firm’s needs. All of this means I can spend my time more efficiently because I know I can count on her to do tasks correctly without needing my constant supervision, and I can count on her to anticipate, prevent, and resolve common issues. (And yes, just this morning I talked with the partner I work for to confirm she was getting the max raises possible.)
