  1. If you are ordering on the web, be careful what information you store on your account. In particular, do NOT store your credit card number on your Nordstrom’s web account. I had a problem on Monday that took some time to resolve with them.

It started with an email thanking me for signing up for the Wish List, which I ignored thinking it was just a promotional email. Then later I got a call from Nordstrom’s where they left a message saying they needed to talk to me to confirm an order. That got my attention because I hadn’t ordered anything. I tried to call back but was put on hold twice for over 10 minutes then advised to leave a message and they hung up. I logged into my on-line account and discovered that a bottle of CHANEL COCO MADEMOISELLE Eau de Parfum Spray had been ordered on my account and was pending. The mailing address had been changed so that my name was still on the first line but the rest of the mailing address was now:

    VAN TRANG__4130 45TH ST
    SAN DIEGO 92105
    United States

An old credit card that was no longer valid was still on file on the account and it appeared that they tried to bill it to that credit card. Presumably, the invalid card was what triggered the call.

The email address looked the same on my account but I did not receive the standard “Your Order has Been Received” email that you normally get when you submit an order.

Then I called customer service and explained that I was upset about the order that was not mine and after being bounced around to a few different folks got someone to look into the issue and cancel the order. Once I pointed out the change of mailing address with a different name they agreed that it looked like someone had hacked into the account and canceled the order and then I got instructions on how to change my password and they said they’d pass it on to their tech people to look into.

I then cleansed the account, changed the password, and removed all credit card information.

Later in the day I got a call back from their tech people who said that the account had been hacked. I asked about reporting it to the police but because the card that was charged did not match any currently valid credit cards in my wallet they said it might have been a stolen card that the hacker had added to the account to try and cover their tracks and I don’t have a case to report to the police.

    1. Why not report it to the police anyway? Isn’t it up to the police to decide what to do with it, not Nordstrom?

    2. Did you connect to an unsecured wireless network recently? This is how this type of information typically gets stolen. Sometimes you don’t even know you connected because your computer/phone goes to a “saved network” (like attnet or Starbucks) and it’s in fact connecting to a hacker’s computer. I’d check any account you might have logged into. If you want to avoid this but still use unsecured wifi’s, you need to use a VPN.

  2. I tried on the Max Mara dress during the anniversary sale. As you would expect from the cut, it’s pretty clingy over the hips. The top also seemed to run small, so I’d recommend sizing up.

    1. Very short; feels as though they are cut for high school/college aged gals. I’m an extreme hourglass, so they may fall longer on a straight, athletic figure. YMMV.
