Poll Results: There are some surprises in your every day makeup bag!

· · · ·

Last week we asked you guys what was in your makeup bag for daily office wear. There were a few surprises… We'd also love to get some comments from you guys on what your favorite products are — comment away!

  • Only 49% of you wear blush on a daily basis. For some reason we NEVER go out of the house without blush on — so for this we're surprised. (We kinda look like the walking dead without it.)  Our favorite product is Benefit's benetint blush — we heard about it for years but for some reason never purchased. It's great, we don't know what took us so long!)
  • A full 25% of you wear foundation every day. (Again, this surprises us — the most we can muster on most days is tinted moisturizer, but hey.)  Another 41% of you wear pressed powder every day, and another 23% of you wear mineral powder every day.
  • 61% of you favor nude lip colors (versus the 33% who voted for colored lips). Any favorite shades?
  • 40% of you wear pencil liner, versus the 7% who wear liquid liner
  • Only 38% of you wear under eye concealer! Really? Again, we look like the walking dead without it — we're a fan of Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes, Fair 05
  • Perhaps not surprisingly, 64% of you wear mascara on a daily basis. (Our all-time favorite is L'Oreal Voluminous Full Definition Volume Building Mascara, Blackest Black— and yes, we've tried LashBlash and DiorShow. What's yours?)

  1. I really like Nars blush, particularly the shade “orgasm” (yes, that’s the name of the shade). It is supposed to flatter most skin tones.

Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer is also great — enough coverage without feeling heavy.

  2. I’ve heard great things about the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. I use the DDF tinted moisturizer/sunscreen – it has “color spheres” that supposedly reflect your skin tone and so it can be used by anyone, regardless of shade. I don’t know about that, but it looks fine and uses physical rather than chemical sunblock (which irritates sensitive skin).

The rest of my daily routine:
Vincent Longo Water Canvas powder foundation – just a little here and there, the most natural-looking make-up I’ve found. I use it instead of concealer.

Vincent Longo amalfi dream lip gloss – a light, natural shade, good for daytime. I use the bronzilla for night.

Vincent Longo blush (sensing a theme here?) – pretty shades, nothing too spectacular, though. I’ll be trying out the Benefit now.

Laura Mercier mahogany liquid eyeliner, applied with a flat brush to the lash line so that it looks natural, and whiskey eye shadow – not too dark, warm brown color. Good for day and night.

Kiss Me Mascara – forms little tubes on your lashes that never, ever smear. Easy to take off. Recently decided to try the Too Faced Lash Injection and am liking it, too.

  3. My mascara of choice is by Blinc and is called Kiss Me Mascara. It creates little “tubes” around each lash rather than just painting color on them. It is completely rub and tear proof (I wore it for my wedding and now wear it everyday), yet it comes off easily when you wash your face or take a shower. It’s kind of freaky the first time you remove it because the tubes look like your actual lashes are coming out, but don’t worry, you’re fine!

But for me mascara is secondary to curling my lashes. My lash curler is the most important tool I possess!

  4. My absolute favorite mascara? Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear mascara. It’s honestly the best thing since sliced bread. I’ve tried the high end brands and the drugstore brands… and I always hoard this. No smears (even in Florida humidity), no clumps, and it looks like you’re wearing false lashes after only one coat! Plus the brush is really gentle (it’s one of those plastic/rubber comb types).

I’m a tinted moisturizer fan too. :) I waver between Sonia Kashuk’s, PF’s Organic Wear, and elf’s (for travel). It’s so much easier to put on some Tinted Moisturizer before leaving the house than applying full foundation. Plus most have the nice benefit of SPF.

  5. I don’t wear undereye concealer because I don’t need it. I do wear foundation daily because I have very pale skin that’s prone to getting flushed and uneven. And of course regular concealer wherever it’s needed.

I used to wear Definicils mascara until it started really irritating my eyes (I wear contacts). Now I wear Stila.
