Rebecca Taylor Flounce Hem Piqué Dress Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices. Rebecca Taylor has always been a source of feminine but professional workwear, and this dress is a great example of that. I love that it has a really high neckline but with interesting ladder-stitch insets, and I think the little flounce hem is very flattering, as are all of the seaming details and darts throughout the dress. And hooray, it does not have an exposed zipper! The dress is $395 at Nordstrom and is available in sizes 0-10. Flounce Hem Piqué Dress Here's a plus-size option and a lower-priced alternative. 1. I’ll be in Melbourne, Florida for a week. Does anyone have a good restaurant recommendation for the area? I’ll be right by the airport.

    1. My condolences.

My dad always insists on going to Meg O’Malley’s, which has fine Irish pub food and an large scotch menu.

And of course, fountain sodas from Sonic if they don’t have one of those where you’re from (if you’re from DC, like me………… sad.)

  2. I have to share…after a string of ok/meh online dates causing me to worry I would never be initially attracted to someone like I was initially attracted to my ex (I know I shouldn’t have thought like that…), I just connected with a really attractive and so far really nice guy! We’ve just been talking for a couple of days so no idea where this will lead. But I’m so excited to find out :)

  3. I had a final round interview last Tues morning. They told me they were hoping to have a decision by Friday. Given the election results (I’m in a very blue state) and that they may have had Friday off for Veterans Day, is it too early to send a follow up email?

    1. “Hoping to have a decision by Friday” may have been too optimistic. I would wait until Thursday or Friday of this week before sending a follow up email.

    2. I would wait until the end of this week, and then send a follow up next week if I still hadn’t heard.

  4. Has anyone ever tried using home remedies to get thicker hair – like massaging olive oil, coconut oil or eggs into your hair?

    1. I love coconut oil in my long hair. It doesn’t make it thicker, but it does make it less dry, healthier looking, and shiny. What I do is scoop some out of the jar in the fridge, smoosh it all over the ends of my hair, wrap my hair up into a bun, wrap that in a ziplock (though wearing a shower cap would work too), then after a few hours I shampoo it out. It’s simple and easy and cheap.

      1. Do you find that it shampoos out easily? Do you use a certain shampoo? I wonder if I’m using too much.

        1. Hmmm… I use some kind of Organix or some such slightly-higher-end drug store brand, and it seems to shampoo out just fine? But I don’t use much, and I keep it pretty far from my scalp. I have lot of thin hair that goes to my bra strap, and I use between a teaspoon and a tablespoon, focusing on the ends of my hair.

      2. +1 – this won’t give you more hair, it won’t fix split ends, but it will help you preserve the hair you have. At least, the oils will – don’t know about eggs.

I don’t use oil, but I do use a rich conditioner on the ends (shoulders and below) of my hair, use a humidifer in the winter (helps cut down on static) and only wash my hair every 2-3 days (more in the summer, less in the winter), which means I also apply less heat styling to it (blow dry when I wash it, and that’s usually it).

I also already have thick hair (lots of strands of individually fine hair), though.

        1. I have no first or second hand anecdotes but there are some vitamins out that target this internally. Hair is basically dead so making hair thicker, rather than appearing thicker (mousse, extensions, hair pieces, a different cut) it’s best to target diet/vitamins/nutrient intake. Good luck!

      3. I also put coconut oil on the portion of my hair that has been lightened, let it sit, and then shampoo it out with Pureology shampoo. I do notice a difference. I also take the hair, skin, and nails vitamins which have helped with thickness although nothing like restoration to the thickness of my younger days!

  5. Does anyone have a recommendation for a (cheap!) piece of software that will somehow batch various file types (pst, doc, pdf, jpg) into some for that will let me bates them and mark them confidential? I am FAR from needing one of these $3k/month solutions for discovery — I just need to respond to the occasional third party subpoena but need to label the files somehow.

  6. I’ve seen a couple of comments about personal shopper services, and I think it’s time for me to bite the bullet and be strategic/informed about my wardrobe instead of make panicked impulse buys. A referral would be MUCH appreciated!
I’m in New York, still pretty early in my career so not making bank (yet) and my office is mostly business casual. My style in Kibbe classification terms would definitely be “dramatic classic” aka “art critic” (classic tailored shapes, sharp lines). Slender pear body type with a deathly fear of pants shopping. Need someone who can really help me put together a wardrobe over the course of months.
If you’ve done this before, please share your experiences, too!
    Thank you!

    1. Maybe late for a reply. I’m liking Trunk Club. I know it’s online but I’ve found my stylist is really “getting” me.

I have had personal shoppers in the past here in SF but my issue has been that they never stick around long. There’s a lot of turnover in that field.
