Tuesday’s TPS Report: Tano’s Decked Out Tote Bag

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.
Picture 1Today, we’re liking this tote from Tano — on sale at Piperlime, but still full price at both Bergdorf’s and Neiman’s websites.  We like the size of this, for a casual tote bag for paperwork — 17 inches high, 20.5 inches wide, 5″ deep — and have heard great things about Tano’s quality.  It was $255, now $169.50 at Piperlime.   Women’s shoes/bags: Tano Decked Out – Black

Wednesday’s TPS Report: Faux Lizard File Totes

Our daily TPS reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

For reasons unbeknownst to us, we got a GrandinRoad catalog in the mail the other day. And there, amidst the odd Halloween items and compact leather furniture, were these handcrafted totes, which struck us as a nice alternative to a bankers box
if you happen to be moving large amounts of files around for things like depositions, presentations, and so forth.  We like that they’re made from leather (faux-embossed to look like lizard) and that they fit both letter and legal-sized papers.  A set of two is $149 at GrandinRoad.com.  Faux Lizard File Totes

The Hunt: Appropriate Bags for Summer Associates

The Best Bags for Summer Associates | CorporetteWe got this request in from a reader, and thought we might resurrect an old feature — The Hunt — in which we look for a great basic, available now, in a variety of price points. Here’s the request:

As an incoming summer associate at a large NY firm, I’ve been wondering – what kind of bag would be appropriate? I’ve been told that Longchamp is too casual, and would be interested to hear your thoughts on it. I don’t want to break the bank before I’ve even made my first paycheck, but would like something nice and versatile that will last a long time. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

We would actually disagree with that — we think Longchamp is fine for a big tote bag. It’s functional (fits a ton of papers), is made well (is strong enough to carry a ton of papers) and — especially if you get the black on black versions available in Canada or at the physical stores in New York City, quite appropriate for work.
