Coffee Break: Travelpro Maxlite 5
I'm still combing through the Amazon Prime sale for a mini-roundup, but one thing that stuck out were the great deals on Travelpro luggage. This brand is frequently at the top of every business traveler's list. As the owner of two of the bags, I have to say I have no complaints — they roll smoothly, are super lightweight, and I love that they expand.
(I often tuck more into the bag once I'm on the plane, expanding if I have to — but then I tend to also pack a smaller bag inside my carryon for my “plane activities” whether it's an iPad, a laptop, a snack, my Kindle, or more, and then remove that smaller bag once I'm at my seat.)
The bag is normally $170, but is now marked to $122, and is available in lots of fun colors. If you want a slightly smaller size, there's also a 20″ bag for $122, but it only comes in black.
These are some of the Corporette readers' favorite items for business travel…

If you need luggage or a travel purse, head to your local AAA store. They told me they are getting out of the merchandise business and everything was at a steep discount. They had purses and bags from Baggalini and TravelPro, and suitcases from Ricardo. Lots of accessories, too, like luggage locks and travel pillows.
Just called our local AAA and this doesn’t seem to be universal – they had no idea what I was talking about lol
People were flying a Hamas flag in the streets of NYC. after they beheaded 40 babies in their cribs. How do we heal from this? How can there ever be peace? I feel sick
I’m with you. I’m just going through the motions so far this week.
There cannot be. Hamas literally does not want peace.
Gwynne Dyer had a good article explaining Hamas’ motivation for trying to provoke a ground invasion by Israel in order to improve Hamas’ bargaining position with other Arab countries. It’s short read but a good one on the motivations and complications – https://amp.scmp.com/comment/opinion/article/3237268/why-israels-mighty-vengeance-just-what-hamas-wants
Agreed. From an article:
“One side wants to annihilate the Jewish people, and the other side—the Jews—resists that wish. Hamas’s 1988 charter states that “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it.” Other gems include “The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”
This is what really resonated with me in terms of trying to understand Hamas’ goals.
“The attack is not “all-out” in the sense that Hamas expects to win, of course. It doesn’t even expect a seat at the negotiating table. But Hamas’ leaders desperately want to recover the de facto veto that Palestinians once had on the concessions other Arabs make to Israel, and this is the only way they might get it.
The “ mighty vengeance” that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promises to rain down on the Gaza Strip is exactly what Hamas actually wants – the mightier the better. The whole point is to get the Israelis to send its soldiers in on the ground because that’s when the casualties start going up steeply.”
Why can’t Egypt open the border to Gaza? Israel should not block civilian exit on that route but would Egypt be open? I don’t think there is a chance of any kind of future in Gaza after this.
I too am so angry by the horrific terrorism Hamas committed. The sexual violence, the murder of infants and the elderly, and the deliberate avoidance of military targets have me sick. If you want any justice for Palestinians at all, denounce Hamas.
agree with all of this. why is it only Israel’s fault that the people of Gaza have no where to go?
None of the Arab countries have ever wanted to help or take in the Palestinians. Also, keep in mind that many of these countries and borders did not exist until the mid-20th Century.
And yes: every time you hear someone (sometimes even credible news sources like NYT) say that Gaza is bounded by Israel is on all sides, that is just factually not true. One of the boundaries is with Egypt. Look at a map.
Egypt polices its border with Gaza heavily, yet we never hear about that (at least not in the US).
Right, just like we police our borders heavily because we could not deal with an unrestricted flow of immigrants into our country from Mexico, Central America and South America.
Sorry, but it’s ridiculous to think that the solution to this crisis is for Egypt to somehow absorb 6 million Palestinians who do not want to live in Egypt, because they already have a home. Egypt has its own problems – water being just one of them – and can’t just throw the gates open and be like “hey y’all, come on in!” Any more than we can open our border with Mexico and welcome all comers. And also, that would not resolve the issue of the Palestinians being displaced. What you folks are arguing for is equivalent to saying that Ukrainians should just give up, cede their country to the Russians, and emigrate to Poland or Romania – countries that are ill-equipped to take them in, and have problems of their own. Israel has a right to exist but not at the expense of every other country around it.
basically every other country around them disagrees with their right to exist.
Someone tell my teen this. Kiddo is being drawn in by some “friends” making her angry that Israel doesn’t allow gay weddings when she is so ignorant that that it is allowed basically in only North America and Western Europe (and then: only recently) and elsewhere you get stoned or sent to jail. Youth on the internet are being manipulated and being fed garbage. There is so “but what about” here that misses the whole damn point.
The focus ought to be by all: Hamas is a terrorist group. Murder is always wrong. We pray for all children of the Abrahamic faiths. Hamas has no interest in actually helping Gaza residents and we shouldn’t pretend that have or ever will. I may not always agree with the Israeli government, but I stand with the people of Israel (and have schooled my child a bit and very sternly since this started over the weekend).
Here’s what one of my much older cousins wrote: “this is coming from both ends of the spectrum. We all know (or should know about) the far right’s anti-Semitism. I consider myself mostly a progressive and support Americans for Peace Now, but the American far left’s entirely un-nuanced, childish, self-serving, and basically unhinged view of Israel has been a thorn in my side for decades.”
Yeah I’m unfollowing people left and right today. I can’t see the stuff they are saying.
Does… your child think Hamas allows gay marriage? Setting aside all acts of terrorism, Islamic fundamentalists are not friendlier to gays than Jewish fundamentalists. Thank you for gently correcting them.
I really worry about younger generations who seem to have little ability to think critically. This has nothing (well, not much) to do with Israel, but the amount of support for RFK among Gen Z voters is pretty horrifying and I think it will cost Biden the election.
I pointed that and many other things out.
Israel is the only country in the Middle East where being gay is not a crime. Kiddo can search for citations for this online.
I know, not the question, but it is true.
If your family is even remotely Jewish, may be time to get kiddo involved in BBYO or similar. My Mom tried, I resisted (and won), and I wish she had made me do it.
We are fairly liberal Christians but I’d almost send her at this point. Otherwise, teens are in the worst of all echo chambers. Is there an ecumenical version for kids of all faiths? Our city has a Jewish population but it is small. They had armed security at services before all this. Cannot imagine how it will be this Saturday.
I don’t know if there is an ecumenical version (I don’t have kids), but maybe others do. It sounds great to me.
Unfortunately a lot of the non-Jewish faith support for Israel comes from fundamentalist Christians. In my area there are quite a few churches that do youth group service for Israel, but a liberal Christian wouldn’t want to get mixed up with those groups for many reasons. They aren’t really supporting the Jewish people, they just want Jews to control Israel because they think it’s necessary for the second coming of Christ.
I simply cannot agree that indoctrinating more children into religion – any religion – is going to bring more peace and unity and tolerance in this world.
Eh I’m an agnostic Jew who is not affiliated with any kind of organized religion, but I think this kind of broad “all religion is bad” statement is pretty offensive. Liberal branches of many religions aren’t anti-peace. The Reform Jewish movement in particular is very closely associated with the fight for social justice on behalf of many oppressed groups, not just Jews. We need fewer fundamentalists of all stripes, but that doesn’t mean less religion.
I know it offends people but that doesn’t make it wrong.
Getting rid of religion hasn’t worked out well either where it’s been tried.
Does Hamas have a relationship with ISIS? This is a new level of brutality even for Hamas so it makes me wonder if they were training together. ISIS frequently used beheadings as a terror tool. I saw an Israeli general being quoted as saying it’s the worst attack on civilians he has seen in his entire 40 year military career.
I remember another Jew, journalist Daniel Pearl, being brutally beheaded on camera – shudder. This isn’t the first time but it is a very, very bad time.
I think it must be one of the worst attacks on civilians ever, if not the worst. I’m not sure how you could get worse than beheading babies and live-streaming it.
However distasteful you and I may find this display, this is America, and people have the right to express their views.
Also, I don’t know that Israel’s actions in recent years (or decades) have substantially contributed to peace.
Stop. Hamas does not want peace. They have never been open to any kind of two state solution. This was a terrorist attack by an organization that is virulently antisemtic and doesn’t believe in Israel’s right to exist. Israel left Gaza in 2005 and Hamas destroyed infrastructure to make the lives of Palestinians worse and drive up anti-Israel sentiment. This attack is not Israel’s doing regardless of what you think of their foreign policy.
Please link me to the online video footage of Israelis beheading babies. You seem to be suggesting a moral equivalence.
Oh FFS. There’s a world of difference between ‘Israel could do better on governance’ and literally beheading babies and livestreaming it.
Hamas are no different than ISIS or Taliban. They are not the PLO.
People can express their views. Other people can also express their horror and disgust at those views.
+1.
Hamas is a terrorist organization. That is a fact, not an opinion/view
Definitely agree. Hamas is a terrorist organization.
I was responding to Anon at 3:03 saying that people in NYC flying the Hamas flag have a right to their views.
The flag flyers have that legal right and the rest of us have the right to be disgusted by them.
They say this in their organizational documents. It’s a promise to those of us who bother to read.
Would you have said the same thing after 9/11, I wonder, if someone’s ‘view’ was supporting al-qaeda?
Um, it is a fundamental premise in the United States that people are allowed to express abhorrent views. This is why the ACLU fought for the right of the KKK to march. So, yes, I would support a view of someone supporting al-qaeda because I am an American and believe in free speech.
The government shouldn’t be stopping anyone from stating any viewpoint. However, I have no objections to society as a whole rejecting these view and the people who support them. Free speech means you have the right to say it free from government control. It does not mean you have the right to say anything free from non-government imposed consequences.
This! So many people seem to think free speech means freedom from consequences. No. You can get fired (from private employers), ostracized, people can refuse to socialize with you or date you or let you volunteer for their organizations and so on. You just can’t go to jail.
The point isn’t whether the Israeli government is run by angels. Jews are being slaughtered because they are Jews.
Don’t forget Hamas uses its civilians as human shields. Israel can’t strike military targets without civilian casualties.
But to be clear, Netanyahu is corrupt and the government is far more right wing than I’d support. But I don’t think you or I deserve to be slaughtered bc of US policies or actions that you or I disagree with.
Yes. Can you imagine people celebrating on 9/11? No one was, even people who hated Bush (and k was among them). In all situations but Israel we can separate bad government policies from terrorist attacks targeted at civilians.
I was among them*
you can think Israel’s actions in recent years/decades may not have substantially contributed to peace….but there is nothing that justifies a terrorist attack on innocent people.
+ 1, there is a material difference between a military attack and a terrorist act. The military in Israel was a fair target, not a bunch of civilians. And rape and beheading are not military actions. They are war crimes, which is why we have had war crimes trials after various regional disputes. There is a war crimes investigation into the Russian treatment of Ukrainian citizens.
This is what I find crazy. The Israeli government is of course not perfect, maybe not even good, maybe complicit or culpable in the deaths of Palestinians. But they are not anally raping women to death and parading their bodies around , they are not murdering babies, they are not calling mothers and making them listen to the rape and execution of their daughters.
Or posting the video of a grandmother being murdered to the grandmother’s Facebook page. That’s how the granddaughter found out she died.
There is war, and then there is this. Even if you think Israel is entirely in the wrong at the macro level, no one is forcing Hamas to rape and murder civilians. That is a choice.
Agree. This was a choice.
who is flying a Hamas flag? were there really celebrations in favor of Hamas in the streets? I hope those people are being watched as terrorists themselves.
I don’t know. I was out and about in NYC all day and didn’t see any of this. Not to say that there isn’t someone somewhere (it’s a big city) but this telling of it makes it sound like it’s something prevalent in a way that it is simply not here, whether it happened or not (reminds me of Trump’s “people were cheering 9-11 in Hoboken”). This isn’t to say that there haven’t been pro Palestinian protests here. As there have been many pro-Israel vigils and demonstrations. But all the NY elected officials have unequivocally condemned what happened and no one I see I know is cheering any of this. So many people, myself included, have family and friends that may be caught up in this one way our another. NY is just heavy today.
https://twitter.com/StopAntisemites/status/1711460373985902880
Seeing any support for them at all is shocking to me
Yes, there were. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/10/08/nyc-palestine-rally-democrats-israel-00120533
This is from Politico, hardly a right-wing source. This is not like Trump’s (false) “Muslims in NYC were celebrating after 9/11”
This is my experience too. I’m not seeing anything like whatever people are describing here, either online or in real life. I’m a New Yorker with Jewish heritage and lefty politics. Im not doubting anyone’s experience but I just don’t think it reflects the overall mood.
It’s everywhere online, especially among young people. Videos of Jewish people mourning are responded to with comments of “Free Palestine” and “Good for Hamas”. It unbearable and I’ve logged out of some platforms just for my own sanity.
Maybe this is age-related? I am 31 so assuming I’m younger than you (my mom uses the term “lefty” but it’s not something my generation would say). The people posting this stuff are my “progressive” friends, and I think the younger generations skew that way politically.
I’m 39 and while I haven’t seen anyone openly celebrating Hamas, I have seen a lot of progressives posting wishy-washy “both sides” statements that don’t unequivocally condemn Hamas for their terrorist attack. A good statement can solidly support Israel in the wake of the attacks without implying Israel is perfect – the joint statement from Biden and EU leaders was great – but the response from liberal non-Jewish Americans, especially the refusal to call Hamas terrorists, has been disappointing to me. Let’s just put it this way: if you replaced “Hamas” with “Al-Qaeda” and “Israel” with “the US,” it’s hard for me to imagine people sharing a lot of the posts I’ve seen the last two days.
This is so annoying to me. Look it up? In Australia they were chanting “gas the jews”. In NY they showed up to a vigil with pictures of the raped and slaughtered women to shove in the face of the mourners. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyK7owEOLlR/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
i am Jewish and cannot put down my phone right now, but from what i’ve read the beheading of 40 babies has not been confirmed. I think it is confirmed that some were, but not the number and I don’t like to spread misinformation.
That being said – a colleague said to me earlier today (knowing full well that I’m Jewish and my grandparents are concentration camp survivors) that she is “just trying to not think about” the situation in Israel/Gaza. How would she (a black woman) have felt if I’d said to her in the wake of George Floyd’s murder that I was just trying not to think about it.
Yes, there is free speech and yes people can support whatever they want, but those who do not condemn Hamas (now is not the time to stay silent. this is how 6 million of my ancestors were killed) are supporting a terrorist organization who wants to obliterate Israel and the Jewish people. You can disagree with Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians without supporting Hamas. You can support and currently be worried about the Palestinian people without supporting Hamas. You can disagree with Israel’s announcement that they are withholding electricity, water, etc. and still find Hamas deplorable. They are not mutually exclusive.
Also – if Hamas was so concerned about the Palestinian people and was planning this attack, why would Hamas not stockpile food, water, medical supplies etc. instead of just spending all of its money on weapons.
Hamas deliberately hurts Palestinian people to radicalize them. If you care about Palestinian civilians you should condemn Hamas.
i am the anon at 3:29 and I completely agree with you!
+1. If nothing else, can we all agree that the specific organization Hamas is not working to improve the lives of Palestinians?
Yes. And that it’s a terrorist organization. To the Anon above- I’m sorry your colleague said to you that she’s just trying not to think about it. That is so tone deaf. And people ignoring/not thinking is what lead to the Holocaust
BBC and CNN have stories confirming the massacre of entire families including infants and children and that there were multiple beheadings, although the number is not specified. Original report was from i24 which I’m not familiar with. BBC report is from a reporter on the ground where it happened.
I guess this is how Biden spoke about it today. Good. This is from NYT:
Mr. Biden bristled with indignation during a 10-minute statement at the White House after speaking with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, appearing as angry as he has in public since becoming president. He denounced the attack as “evil” multiple times and used words and phrases like “atrocities,” “sickening,” “abhorrent,” “brutality,” and “violation of every code of human morality” to describe it.
You guys. I can’t with pointy toe shoes anymore: They consistently make my toes smush together and I end up with blisters. I’ve tried both the Rockport and the Sam Edelmans recommended by Corporette, and they don’t work for me.
Any favorites for round toed black basic heels (2 – 3″)? I need something that I can order off Zappos/Amazon, so the Everlane ones recommended by Corporette won’t work for me…
Honestly, I don’t think the problem is the pointy toe style, the problem is ordering off Zappos and Amazon and expecting a quality shoe.
For reasonably priced round toe options, I wear a lot of Brooks Brothers and J Crew shoes bought on sale. I used to get massive blisters and I have zero problems with heels from these brands.
Thank you! I will happily order from other retailers — my Zappos request was mostly because I need them by Monday…
Zappos has lots of different brands. Not sure why the retailer would be the problem?
Try naturalizer Anna or Michelle shoes. They are on Amazon and ship overnight. They work. Return if you don’t like them. I found the shoe came up too high for me but they were comfortable all day.
Cole haan go-to pump are more almond, and give me enough space so they may be worth a try. I’d look at clarks, I find them generally comfortable. Another pricey option is the tory burch cap-toe pump.
I recommend either Rockport, Vionic or Walking Cradles shoes. Walking Cradles have some round- and almond-toe shoes but even their pointy-toed ones don’t hurt my feet. For me, Clark’s leather is too hard and rubs blisters on my instep.
If you can find the ECCO shape M 35 pump online somewhere, order it — it is the most comfortable basic pump I have ever found. Don’t mistake this show for the similarly-named ECCO Shape 35 pump (without the “M”); that one has a synthetic sock liner, whereas the “M” version has a leather sock liner. Recently, I have not been able to find it online, so it’s possible ECCO has discontinued this model, which would be tragic. Alternatively, if you can, just go to the nearest shopping mall and try on whatever shoes are available. Unless/until you find a consistently well-fitting brand for your foot, trying them on in person would be the best practice. Good luck!
How old were you when you started prescription retinol? Also, how do I get it? I understand it’s prescription only but do I make a regular dermatologist appointment thru insurance? Or do I need to go to a MedSpa type place?
The easy way to get it is Curology.
I get it through Nurx, but similar idea I believe. I took some photos of your face, filled out a short form and medical history, and now get prescription tret mailed to me every three months for $90.
I was 34, after I finished having kids. I made an appt for a skin check with a derm (history of skin cancer) and asked for a retinol prescription. The first time I filled it insurance did not cover it, but she recommended a local pharmacy wasn’t that expensive, I think it was about $80. The second time I filled it, again after a skin check, (you only use a tiny amount so the tube lasts a really long time), insurance did cover it.
This is me too – 34, after kids, derm provided. I just pay out of pocket for it and vitamin c, both by obaji (also on dermstore).
My derm who does my skin cancer screenings is happy to prescribe as part of my skin cancer screening appointments.
You might want to find out what pharmacy has the best out of pocket price ahead of time, since it’s difficult to get coverage through insurance for the rx.
+1 to Curology. I started late 30s / early 40s timeframe once I was 100% done with pregnancies and breastfeeding. I have recently had two arguments with randos where I’ve had to convince them that we are the same age. (I’m 58.)
But your retinoid is only as good as your SPF habits. Don’t do one without the other, you’d just be kidding yourself. I’m slathered decolletage to forehead every single day, yes if it’s cloudy, yes if I think I will be inside all day.
I started prescription tretinoin when I was 25, for acne. I’m 33 now, still on it. I’ve gotten it through Curology but honestly I just asked my PCP for a prescription and it was cheaper.
I’ve been using it off and on probably since I’ve been a teenager for acne. I’m now 38. I still have acne, but I also get told I look about 5-10 younger than I am, so I guess that’s a win?
I started in my mid-20s with time off only for TTC/pregnancy/nursing. I’m now mid-40s and while two pregnancies in two years in my late 30s have certainly aged me like nothing else, I still look at least a few years younger than my actual age. Second the sunscreen recommendation, though. That’s more important than anything and i’ve been using that (high PPD sunscreen from Europe) since I was in my late teens.
I like Travelpro luggage and have had several, and have used the range in the post and been happy with it, but I don’t agree that Travelpro is particularly lightweight. Samsonite, e.g., which is more common where I live, is consistently lighter.
The Travelpro two-wheelers are unbeatable on cobblestones, though.
low stakes question: what are people wearing for outdoor workouts like walking? this morning i had a puffy vest on top of a sweatshirt and was too cold for my walk, but adding a full on coat seems like too much.
Switch out your sweatshirt to something like an Ibex wool (washable) sweater. Add a silk tee under if you are still cold.
I add a snug layer below my sweatshirt, and puffer vest on top. Sometimes a long sleeved thermal but mostly I have a handful of long sleeved shirts that are too short or shabby to wear on their own.
Also make sure you’re visible as the days are getting shorter. I’m on a bike most of the time and am lit up like a Christmas tree but if I was walking I’d want some reflectors as well.
I wear a warmer legging like the rainer tight from athleta. For top, i wear a fitted long sleeve top underneath a zip up hoodie or some kind of insulated jacket (not a knee length coat, more hip length/ light weight). I also bring a beanie and gloves i can remove.
I wear a full on coat. I walk a lot and wear whatever is best for the weather I’m going out in.
I’m going for the full puffer. I hate being cold too much to care if I look cuckoo!
I usually add some kind of windproof shell- for me, it’s the wind that makes it chilly. And a hat.
Advice for working with a colleague who has posted pro-Hamas material on her personal social media account? I can’t unknow that she thinks the invasion was justified.
Don’t bring it up and focus on the job you have to do, to the extent that you have to interact with them.
This. Pretend this is any other collegue you have to work with and don’t want to. Be impeccibly professional and keep all interactions work related. Also, stop following her on social media. (This might be a heads up to just not follow anyone from work on social media, it just leads to this kind of thing…)
Tell her supervisor? I honestly don’t know if I could. Just awful
This is really melodramatic. And not a good solution at all.
It’s not melodramatic. Working with someone who wants your race wiped off the face of the earth isn’t the same as working with someone with whom you disagree about politics.
The idea that we’re being overdramatic for not wanting to work with people who support terrorists who want us dead is exactly why so many Jews feel horribly unsupported right now.
Doubling down on the melodrama doesn’t make your point for you, just FYI.
Do you always get this upset when families get murdered, or so they have to be Israeli for you to get this emotional? Because if you didn’t realize it, families are being murdered by terrorists daily in places like the cartel-controlled parts of Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala. People on the Texas border are being chased into razor wire by terrorists who work for the U.S. Border Patrol. I am not sure why we’re only supposed get horribly upset and emotionally decompensate when it’s Israeli kids and families being harmed. I experience what you’re experiencing every day when I read the news about what’s happening to Latine migrants on the U.S. border.
I do always get upset when families get murdered yes. If the border patrol raped women and took videos and killed babies and someone expressed support for them I would also be appalled.
Of course it’s not that only Israelis matter and nothing I said is inconsistent with also being outraged about mistreatment of other groups, but your analogy is way off base. Hamas’s stated goal is to eradicate Israel. US Border Patrol is certainly very far from perfect (and I’ve personally protested their actions) but they’re not trying to wipe Mexico off the map and they have never beheaded babies on a livestream.
Anon at 6:48, stop your absurd argument before you embarrass yourself further. No Latinos use “Latine,” FYI. This isn’t the Evergreen State faculty lounge.
If your colleague was making racist comments about the border crisis, I would fully support you in going to HR. I don’t think any kind of homophobia, racism or anti-semitism should be tolerated. And in fact I know of several people who were fired for racist social media posts around the time of George Floyd’s murder. Rightly so.
Why is this not a good solution? If a coworker said something shockingly racist or homophobic I would report it. Why should OP have to be professional to someone who publicly expresses support for raping women and murdering babies?
+1.
You do nothing. Why are you even looking at coworkers social media? People in this world support a lot of things I abhor. If they are not part of my “circle,” I ignore them.
I would also report to HR or management. This is so awful, and I imagine a lot of private employers would not want to retain an employee who is openly supporting terrorists. It could be a PR disaster for many orgs. Free speech means freedom from jail and other government acts – not freedom from judgment by other private citizens!
Agree, this would be a violation of our HR social media policy (re: hate speech). There is a stark difference between posting pro-Palestine content and pro-Hamas, and if it’s the latter that person doesn’t deserve a job.
Really? You be an adult in America and you do your work.
Let it go! Almost all my colleagues have morally objectionable views but that’s the beauty of being colleagues, we aren’t friends! As long as your colleague doesn’t bring the views into the work place just be civil.
Question about skincare – the internet tells me that I do a full skin care routine in the morning, including serums and moisturizer, and then put on sunscreen, and then put on makeup. When I do all of this, my skin feels terrible and heavy, and the makeup feels like it’s sliding around. Is there a secret to doing this effectively? Thanks!
I think it’s fine to save moisturizer and most serums for PM (though if you shower or wash your face in the morning, hyaluronic acid is good to use before the skin dries).
I’m familiar with these multistep processes as a Korean thing that works with Korean products (and reviews will comment on layerability).
I usually only use an AM specific serum (like a caffeinated one) in the morning. My primer has SPF so I don’t need separate sunblock. Makeup layers well on my primer.
I have to layer mine with breaks between – serum then put on deodorant and take pills. Moisturize face then get partially dressed. Put sunscreen on face, neck, and chest, then go to lotion my legs. If it’s less than 5-10 minutes I need to use mostly cream makeup on my face, not powders.
I get out of the shower or finish washing my face and apply a few serums together all at once (niacinimide, vitamin c, hyaluronic acid), let them dry a bit while I dry my body/apply lotion, apply a thin smear of my rosacea medicine (it’s less than a pea sized amount), wait super briefly, then apply three fingers of sunscreen to face, then a separate amount to chest and neck. That does need a minute to dry, so I start in on my eye makeup – shadow stick and mascara- and by the time that’s done, I’m ready to apply BB cream. I don’t use much, like one pump of Dr Jart Premium BB for my whole face, so I’ve never felt like anything wants to slip off.
Here’s the facial sunscreen I use
https://www.amazon.com/Sunscreen-Super-Moisture-Bottle-3-71floz/dp/B0C9F1HJD5/
When I used a thicker US sunscreen I did have issues with pilling or not liking the texture. Asian sunscreens are where it’s at, and they’re not only more elegantly formulated, but they’re more effective too.
I…wash my face in the morning and put on a Moisturizer with sunscreen.
I take off my makeup (if wearing) and wash my face at night then put moisturizer on.
